So, I’ve seen quite a few people in the CoS fandom talking about replacing the dinner scene with a masquerade ball... and honestly? I love that idea! So here's an illustration I made inspired by the iconic ballroom scene from the Van Helsing movie — you know the one.

This is my character, Gabrielle, dancing with Strahd. I know something like this would probably never happen in-game… but guess what? I don’t have a game anymore (thanks to a boring TPK), so canon is whatever I say it is now!

Art is my coping mechanism, and sometimes that means indulging in dramatic vampire aesthetics and unhinged "romantic" tension. Enjoy!

Despite everything I really can't help but thinking that whatever Strahd and Ireena have going on is unintentionally funny.

Ireena sees him as this irritating old man with dementia that keeps calling her with the wrong name and mistaking her with someone else, but Strahd is equally frustrated and sees her as someone with an infuriating case of chronic amnesia who is making him explain the same stuff to her over and over again every time they meet though the years.

#I think the worst part of this is that Strahd is ALSO canonically trapped in the cycle #He's tried leaving well enough alone before but Tatyana's reincarnations always die horribly #Worse than they die if he's involved #(because The Dark Powers need their whipping boy to play along or he won't be fun to watch anymore)#(The Dark Powers are really shaking Strahd around like that little girl shakes fish in Finding Nemo)#So the dementia riddled old man KNOWS he's being a weirdo creep but also knows leaving her alone really isn't an option #Strahd is the epitomy of 'I also don't want me to be doing what I'm doing'#Let's be doomed by the narrative together #Poor Ireena&reincarnations though. Her fates are 'be relentlessly pursued by Weirdo Freak Vampire until she meets a horrible end'#or 'die even MORE horrendously'
