Dear body, I am so, so sorry. I am sorry for the number of times I have left you beaten, bloodied, and bruised. I am sorry for the number of blades I have taken to you, the many flames that have touched your skin, and the amount of times I have stayed up drinking what you could only see as poison in an attempt to numb you. I am sorry for times that I’ve starved you. For the weeks on end that I have left you without food, in an attempt to make myself happier. I am sorry for hating you for being just “a little too much” or “far too little”. I am sorry for going years hating you. I am sorry for still not completely loving you. I hope that you can forgive me, because I am trying to appreciate you, and to love you the way that you are. I can only hope that you’ll do the same for me. I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too.
