“Sounds like Mom is having that talk with the new cleaning lady”, I whispered. “What was her name again?”
“Mom’s name? Eleanore, I think”, Bobbie replied, in another one of his spectacularly failing attempts at humor.
“Very funny. I am talking about the new cleaning lady’s name, of course.”
“Oh, that.” My brother grinned. “I think it begins with an ‘A’. Something like Abigail. No, wait. Adele.”
“You’re right, it’s Adele.”
The door to the living-room was ajar, and that was where those sounds were coming from. Usually, Mom would have been more discrete about her weekly performance reviews with the house personnel, but today my brother and I had returned earlier than usual from school. We cautiously approached the door to the living-room and peered inside.
We could see Mom sitting on the couch, with Adele draped face-down and bare-assed over Mom’s knees. Those noises we had heard were the sounds of the slaps as Mom was spanking our new cleaning lady’s plump bottom.
“Poor Adele”, Bobbie whispered. “Her butt is bright red.”
“Uh hm.”
Careful not to make any sound, we changed our position to get a better view.
“Mom mentioned that Adele’s working ethics were less than satisfactory”, I offered.
For a while, we both watched in silence as the spanking progressed. Adele had started to squirm and was uttering all sorts of little noises now.
“I wonder why Adele even bothers to put up with this”, my brother mused, a bit breathlessly. “It’s not as if there wasn’t any demand for personnel in the neighbourhood.”
“I think she may be actually enjoying this”, I breathed. “I mean, just listen to those small whimpers and sighs.”
“Uh hm.”
Bobbie’s breath quickened, as did mine.
I resolved to spend some quality time with myself in my bedroom afterwards.
