Sitting on the couch she rested her head on Jake’s shoulder with a 𝐃𝐄𝐄𝐏 sigh. Rolling her eyes, she pecked Jake’s cheek as she held onto his hand, as much as she was 𝐔𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 nighty percent of the time, she was relaxed when she was with him. “Jake, I think we should be more worried about the smoke starting to get around here. Open a window or two to air the place out at least.” Her only good eye glancing at the ceiling, the other eye could only see blurred or red tinted outlines.

“I’m not worried.”  Jake shrugged, letting Amy open windows systematically while Charles and Terry started fanning with binders.  “Not our first rodeo.” He was grateful that the Captain was at a meeting and out of the precinct.  “We break like one appliance a month.”

“Yeah, I doubt that. The only thing that burns humans is spicy food, and I’m highly tolerant to that. Have you seen me eat 50 Ghost peppers during lunch? That’s all I bring.”

The quick, nonsensical response was both comical and just plain concerning. Rosa rolled her eyes. “Oh, man. You’re worse off than I had imagined.” She took Amy’s chair for the moment, so she could sit across from Jake and take the file he had been sleeping on. “What’s so important that it kept you here all night?”

“Can you explain why it’s on fire then? If Scully eats it, I won’t be surprised…He’ll eat anything with Hitchcock. Weird.”

“ i know , i know , but jake i still give you a time and i like to be home by then . ” she laughed softly , dropping her large tote bag and shrugged off her blazer . “ yeah there was just a hold up that i needed to help calm down . but everyone is alright , roza and terry are back at the 99 finishing stuff off . my paperwork was already done . ” a sense of pride on herself as she sat down beside her fiancé .

“hol’ up, what was the hold up?”  a weak excuse for a play on words, but jake was a little snappier at the 99 after 2 coffees, not in his unwind before bed time.  he paused the DVR, waiting for his fiancé to join him on the couch.
