sometimes i think abt the fact that the institute created nicky v solely to experiment w synthetic emotional range and how Fucked Up that is bc, u know, they took the neural scan of a heavily depressed/grieving widower and put that personality into a synth and then they did tests that likely included trying to make him as sad as fukcing possible

the first yrs of his life were spent alone and heart-broken and the institute manipulated that and then they got bored and threw him out
