i think the thing i'm saddest about with the opla adaptation is that nobody new gets the sheer pun damage of people mistaking chopper for a tanuki

for real though i love and adore manga shanks and buggy (and will i ever be over shanks skipping out on going to laugh tale bc buggy was sick? no, no i will not) but the divorce vibes in opla are so fucking funny

i know it's not "the most accurate" but i genuinely do not care because opla tones down the shit that got annoying (looking @ you, sanji) (i say as if all forms of sanji aren't my babygirl) and they're taking references from later stuff that fits. like. barto's backstory is like "i was in loguetown when" so opla went "great, early bird cameo". roger and garp's conversation to reveal that roger had a kid before ace's introduction. sabo's cameo in loguetown. sanji's backstory drop! and literally everything with the rumbar pirates?? yes!! thank you!!
