Though polyamory challenges it more directly, being monogamous still shouldn't mean you own your partner. Love doesn't mean possession. Monogamy doesn't mean ownership. Monogamous or polyamorous, your relationship boundaries should be an understanding between you. It should leave room to talk to each other, to communicate with them. Whatever romantic or dirty talk may exist in your relationships doesn't have to be literal. If you choose to give yourself to another person it should be a free choice, it shouldn't mean losing yourself, and it should mean what you understand it to mean.
