okay we're all screaming at kaz's little dress up scheme in a darker shore because of what it cost him to pull it off but also, there is this particular line he says to merx that felt !!! to me:
I noted that the medicine was killing him, and he seemed unfazed. "We're all dying every day, Merx. I just do it with more style."
it felt like such a jesper thing to say to me and also the wording felt familiar?? and then i went digging and realised that this is basically a parallel to the scene in CK where colm and jes are arguing:
Colm banged his fist against the table. “It’s not a gift. It’s a curse. It would have killed you the same way it killed your mother.”
So much for the truth. Jesper strode to the door. If he didn’t get shut of this place, he was going to jump right out of his skin. “I’m dying anyway, Da. I’m just doing it slow."
and that, in turn, feels like much more of a kaz thing to say (brick by brick, you get me?)
anyway, something about parallels and how you can pretend or not pretend to be someone else for whatever reason cause you will die anyway, but what matters in the end is what you gain or lose by it - money for kaz, (dis)connection from his true self for jesper.
(and also. crying over how they have all left their marks on each other so much down to the way they speak and isn't that the most beautiful thing ever ok bye)
