gaming as nervous system regulation (especially if you’re autistic) this might sound obvious to some people, but it’s worth spelling out properly gaming can function as a form of self-regulation and pseudo-therapy if you approach it intentionally, not compulsively for autistic people in particular, games do a few very specific, very useful things: 1. baseline stimulation a lot of autistic burnout comes from being under-stimulated or chaotically overstimulated games provide: • predictable sensory input • controllable intensity • constant low-level engagement this helps stabilise your nervous system instead of yanking it around 2. clear rules + feedback real life is vague, social, and full of hidden expectations games are: • explicit about goals • honest about cause and effect • consistent in how systems behave that clarity reduces cognitive load massively 3. agency without social risk games let you make meaningful choices and see consequences without the added cognitive and emotional cost of social interaction they provide: • choice • progression • mastery without having to perform socially, mask, or manage other people’s emotions in real time 4. flow state access well-designed games naturally pull you into a balanced state of focused engagement they provide: • clear goals • immediate feedback • challenges matched to your skill level which helps you stay absorbed without tipping into stress, boredom, or dissociation 5. emotional processing (safely) games let you experience and work through emotions in a controlled, low-stakes environment these experiences include: • challenge • failure • tension • success in a bounded environment where nothing actually goes wrong if you mess up that’s huge if your nervous system is already overloaded by daily life important caveat this works best when: • the game fits your sensory profile • you’re using it to regulate, not escape everything forever • you’re paying attention to how your body feels before and after not all games are regulating. some are dysregulating. knowing the difference matters but yeah, for a lot of autistic people, gaming isn’t wasting time, it’s how we: • stabilise • recover • stay functional so fuck anyone who tells you you're lazy or whatever, gaming is a tool for neurodivergent people, and is just as necessary as any other tool used to regulate or stimulate your nervous system

I am constantly thinking about this
This mild Wikipedia sentence is like the understatement of all time
Here are some crazy grasshopper mouse facts for those who are not familiar with the most badass mouse species on the planet
- They are fully carnivorous, and their diet is made up of not only bugs but also snakes, lizards and other mice.
- They hunt like true predators, slowly stalking and creeping up on their prey before ambushing them. They will sometimes let out a screech as they attack.
- Like wolves, they howl to establish territory and have a specially developed throat to produce louder vocalizations. They will stand up on their hind legs and throw their head back to howl- a sound that can be heard from 100 meters away!
- Grasshopper mouse behavior is linked to lunar cycles and they are more active during a full moon.
- These mice have been hunting bark scorpions and evolving alongside them for so long that they’ve evolved a mutation where scorpion venom that is lethal to other animals is converted into a painkiller in the grasshopper mouse’s body.

don’t believe digital stuff is preserved forever - if it’s really important (documents, photos, etc) print it out
name your files accurately I know it sucks but please
don’t destroy the original just bc you scanned it
rubber cement is the devil’s adhesive use photo corners and quit gluing shit
you will NOT remember write it down
if you staple things to the inside of a folder I will find you
your public library probably has equipment to digitize old media for free or can at least get you connected with somewhere that does!
hey heres a cool concept: treat the people that are important to you………like they are…..important to you
