to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
Saw these easy to read instructions on Twitter. Stay safe 💚
Also just a handy, DIY air filter in general, if a bit bulky. For a less bulky and cheaper (but also less effective) solution, you can simply tape one filter to the fan, cut a shroud if you'd like.
just FYI, this is quite literally what the climate scientists at my work who specialized in wildfire smoke impacts recommend. it works great, it's cheap to make, and it will make a noticeable impact on your air quality.
i have asthma & keep one of these running in my room perpetually. after I set it up the difference in my sleep quality was pretty much night and day. Dont waste your time on proprietary air filters; SIMPLY bust out the duct tape
Energy drink 💪

So every year, my aquarium does a captive lobster hatchery project (hence all the loblings). The reason we’re doing it is because in the wild, loblings only have a 1 in 25,000 chance of surviving their larval phase. They’re plankton as babies and everything eats them. Additionally, as the Gulf of Maine warms, they are having even lower survival rates because the blooms of copepods they feed on as babies are happening earlier in the year, and they’re missing it.
Obviously, the goal of this experiment is to grow the lobsters until they’re big enough to settle to the seabed and then release them, because they have a much higher likelihood of surviving to adulthood when they’re able to hide. Ideally, captive lobster hatcheries can boost the wild population and keep things stable, so we don’t have a major crash in a decade or two.
The first year we tried this was pretty bad. We had a lot of eggs, but very few babies. It turned out that the CO2 levels in the building spiked as more guests visited throughout the summer, and that settled into the water and threw off the pH and caused a chemical reaction that prevented a lot of the eggs from hatching. I think we ended up releasing three baby lobsters (which is still better than their wild survival rate but not great).
The second year was a little better. We added a de-gasser to the aquarium and got a ton of larval lobsters, but right as they were settling to the bottom we had a disease outbreak that killed most of them. We ended up releasing four babies at the end of the season.
But this year? Oh boy. We have so many lobsters that we had to release the first round early (usually we wait till September or October so guests can see them). We just released a total of FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE baby lobsters, and we still have over a hundred who haven’t settled to the bottom yet. I genuinely don’t even have words to explain how cool this is. OVER FIVE HUNDRED. We just added hundreds of lobsters to the wild population that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.
Conservation is so fucken sick
This is why I love indie productions so much.

Fluffy Sparda, you say? 👀 Elaborate? If you want.
I wasn't sure if he'd have fur/hair along with his carapace, but I guess it'd make sense. Would that keep him warm, if he went into colder areas of Hell? It'd be cool if he could change his body based on what he needed to survive the environment, kinda like how the twins' DTs (especially Dante's) changes based on what Devil Arm they currently have equipped.
WARNING BUG hehe. i was inspired by the Hercules beetle, who has a little fuzz around segments of it's body.
For Sparda, i was thinking that fuzz could work similarly to downy feathers in birds. extra insulation while their bodies cant really thermoregulate maybe. i was also thinking it could help protect soft areas (like joints) from his body's own spiky plates and scales as he grows, through awkward growing pains ig. I do think Sparda would have eventually shed that fuzz as he matures, but yeah, maybe being in a colder climate would make it reappear, or similar demons who live in cold places would have em all over.
i have been thinking about Sparda and the courts of hell a lot more recently, so thanks for the asks, they've been getting my brain going.
Eva: aren't you cold?
Sparda, currently in devil form in an admittedly chilly environment and in denial: no.
Eva, poking the fuzz poking out from under some armour: are you suuuure?
Sparda: .... >:[
thank you for the INCREDIBLE idea i hope i did it justice bonus: very fuzzy bugs
The next series of photos were, in Dante’s humble opinion, possibly the funniest and most heartwarming things he’d ever seen in his entire life. Whoever the photographer was, they were a genius, catching the moments in frame-by-frame glory.
In the first, it was Sparda’s turn to hold the twins, and he smiled lovingly down at the two babies with their red, wrinkly faces and patches of dandelion fluff hair. In the second photo, Dante and Vergil were, predictably, crying, and Sparda looked like any other first-time father with a screaming baby. (In the background, they could just make out Eva, who was smiling a wry, lopsided smile Dante had only seen in a mirror and on his brother’s face.) With the third shot came the twist: Both babies had transformed into little red and blue devils, still screaming their heads off, but now with a full set of teeth. Sparda looked stunned, Eva’s mouth was open in a silent O of shock, and even the camera person had been surprised enough for the frame to tilt slightly. Then Sparda was laughing, head thrown back, a look of pure joy on his face. And, in the final picture, was their father in full Devil Trigger. He was... intimidating. Sparda’s devil form was so huge that most of his head and broad shoulders were actually out of frame, with only his sharp smile and the points of two, downward-curving horns visible, Dante and Vergil held in one hand each.
“Holy fuck,” Dante whispered, awed.
“Holy fuck,” Vergil echoed.
Dante paused, considered the image again, then whistled and added, “Damn, Mom. You are fearless.”
“Dante!” Vergil shouted, scandalized.
“What? What?” Dante protested. “I didn’t mean it dirty!” He waved his hands in the air, as if trying to illustrate his point in 3D. “I mean, he’s like twice her size! He’s gotta be like nine or ten feet tall! And at least four feet across the shoulders! It would take guts for a human to date that, much less marry it!”
The next photo illustrated that point. Sparda, still in his Trigger, leaning down to kiss Eva, who was kissing him back with no sign of hesitation in her expression.
“Oh hellgates,” Vergil mumbled, covering his eyes like he was eight again, and his parents were actually kissing in front of him. He hadn’t reacted like this with the first (three) pictures of them kissing! Maybe it was because he was still more used to seeing devils?
“Awww, look at his wings, they’re all glowy,” Dante cooed, reveling in his twin’s embarrassment. When Vergil’s ears went pink, he had his answer.
“Shut up, Dante.”
“Make me.”

man forget dmc 6, i need dmc 0—about sparda and his life story and how tf did his ass bag a baddie
Yamato, Force Edge and Rebellion aren't just family heirlooms: Sparda made them out of his own essence and being. As though he cut off parts of himself and manifested them as swords. The swords are Sparda essentially.
And then gave them to his sons. Even in death, Sparda watches over his boys. Yamato and Rebellion manifested when the boys were in danger. And Devil Sword Sparda concealed Dante's presence to protect him from Urizen and his minions.
Dante and Vergil each carry their father all the time. They're loved and they're protected by Sparda.
I just can't seem to stop drawing Yennefer lately

I was unaware of Markiplier telling his fans that they better behave in the theaters which is hilarious to me because I've been joking with my staff that if the people for Iron Lung acted up in our theater I was going to email Markiplier like a disappointed teacher
