So I have been in New York for the past week on a family trip and I can't say it wasn't without bumps... I had fun but on the last day I tripped on some loose cobblestones visiting the Statue of Liberty lmao and bruised my foot so I couldn't walk. But they sent me to the ER in New Jersey cuz my blood pressure was too low. I was kind of under time pressure tho cuz my flight was the next day and the hospital likes to take it's sweet ass time and I'm literally the only one in my family who speaks english fluently and who knows how to use technology to book all our flights and our hotel accomodations so without me, my family is kind of adrift.
To say everyone was stressed was an understatement, and I was just so annoyed at the entire situation. One of the highest points of irritation was when they sent me to imaging so they could take pics of my foot to make sure no bones were broken but left me in an empty hallway for like an hour cuz the room was occupied. And I sat watching as the only other imaging room kept having patients enter and leave like clockwork while I had to wait for mine. It wasn't until I was so annoyed that I got up and left my wheelchair so I could wander the hallways until I ran into a technician to complain that they finally took me to another available imaging room. :/ If I didn't get up to walk on my BAD foot I suspect I would still be there in that hallway right now.
And STILL even after all that, the doctor never came to discuss the results with me. I decided to finally leave after looking up the test results on my mychart sent to my phone and saw that my foot wasn't broken, just bruised and just accepted whatever consequences would come from leaving against medical advice cuz I would rather not miss my flight and just asked for a cane. My one last souvenir from New York. I'm back in CA now so clearly I'm fine. but what a way to end the trip.
...This isn't even mentioning the layover purgatory I was in flying to New York in the first place where they wouldn't let us land for 2 days because of rain (and when I finally got there the rain was literally just a light drizzle/mist!!! This is what stops you guys in your tracks omg). I joked that I got to visit like 5 states this trip just from layovers.
Alright I did do fun things tho, did the times square crawl, go on a tourist trap bus tour, got to see the Moulin Rouge musical, visited Chinatown, the 9/11 memorial, Empire State Building, and explored the Natural History Museum and MoMA. And of course visited Lady Liberty where I got my injury lmao.)
