I watched "The Producers" (2005) recently, which is the first time I've seen any version of "The Producers" and... Well, there's a lot that can and has been said about it!
But something that REALLY amused me is that... almost every other movie or television show that I've seen recently that has been ABOUT filmmaking, storytelling, making music, and/or putting on a show... has at some point paused briefly to pontificate about the importance of telling stories, about how art is meaningful to people, and about how "inspiring people" is perhaps The Most Noble Calling in the world.
I'm not sure any character in "The Producers" cared about that. The closest you get is maybe the director, who appeared to be honestly primarily motivated by fame and Tony Awards, and also the playwright who was... let's say largely "politically motivated". These terrible people all primarily wanted to be rich, famous, rich, celebrated, rich, and maybe also able to freely sexually harrass beautiful women.
Idk, a part of me was begrudgingly kind of expecting "The Producers" to turn around at some point and get sappily sincere about artistry and creativity and musical theatre as the most beautiful thing to ever exist or whatever, and how producers actually play the most important role of all enabling Great Art, and that just never happened. Instead, the movie was like: "No, no, no. Look at me. LOOK AT ME. These are con men."
producers omegaverse fic would be soooo funny
some actresses play ulla so badly and i think i figured what bothers me about their performance:
some performers believe that because they are playing a comedy, the characters they are playing are abstract and out of reality, but that doesn't apply to ulla, sure she has her comedic moments especially around her misunderstandings with the english language, BUT she genuinely believes in what she is doing and in her ability as an actress, the issues with these actresses is that they portray the character as someone who is extremely dumb, and that makes the most genuine moments of ulla's character fall flat
