Now don’t get me wrong. I am not saying it is wrong for Drag Race queens to discuss other social issues, particularly ones that affect them personally - if anything I’m glad the show has become more political in recent years, to educate its expanding audiences and young demographic.

Yeah it does, but it doesn’t acknowledge any of the bad stuff that goes along with womanhood in reality. And as for not relating, in the current season the person who raised trans issues was Tamisha, who I don’t think is trans, and white queens often talk about supporting black social movements. You don’t have to be a woman to say ‘Hey you know what’s bad? Sexism’, especially when you are profiting from majority female fans.

Another thing that bothers me is how often the queens choose to uplift the gay and bisexual men around them rather than women. For instance I came across a post from the person who designed literally all of Tina Burner’s show outfits, and he’s a man. When I paid to see Violet Chachki’s quarantine show I couldn’t help but notice that all the people who worked on it were men, including the director, camera people, editors, etc. Even the show itself has one female director and one female producer, and everyone else mentioned below is a man.
