iwtv seasons one and two was like being tucked into bed and read a heartbreaking story by Louis du pointe du lac. The Vampire Lestat is like your blackout drunk uncle trying to tell you an anecdote at a family gathering
i know weâve already talked about how wylan and kaz are character foils for a multitude of reasons, but have we considered: kaz and wylan both mimicking human behaviors and coming off as unsettling because theyâre able to pull it off really well.
both of them have an otherworldly kind of presence thatâs just off enough to feel but not enough to really pin down. kaz appears in rooms without warning. wylan stares at people for too long. both of them remember details about others that they shouldnât. for different reasons, but the underlying discomfort remains the same. give me unsettling wylan to go with unsettling kaz. let them be creepy together. i beg you.

The thing thatâs so fun abt Daniel and Lestat hanging out sex drugs and rock n roll style is that theyâre both such fucking FREAKS but like in such different ways. Danielâs favorite hobby is (was? Will be? TBD) cucking his boyfriend and drinking each others blood but Lestat has foursomes in elevators and sex dreams about Jesus Christ and also actual sex with his actual mom so he probably has Danny boy beat there as only few do but also Lestat we must remember is from 18th century France and does LSD One (1) fucking time and loses his shit so bad he nearly falls over like 5 times gets his shit rocked and then reveals his vampirism to a bunch of corporate drones, oopsies!! Happens king, weâve all done embarrassing things at work parties, meanwhile Daniel ânot new to this but true to thisâ Molloy (âthisâ being recreational drug use) who has probably used crack pipes in ways most of us could only dream of and is presumably on the exact same drugs as Lestat not only manages to Not get his shit rocked but to stay sharp enough to continue to grill Lestat about his childhood trauma. GOD this duo is fantastic.

I love how the trick-or-treating scene implies that not only do the neighborhood adults and children feel comfortable interacting with Lestat on a nightly basis (despite his eccentricities), but that Lestat has made an effort in becoming such a member of the community. Like, bro was going full Regina George, but he had the decency to pause, go out and buy candy, and answer the door for trick-or-treaters. And not just any amount of candy, but a full-on bucket.
I like to think the neighborhood children view him as like a crazy uncle. Like, "Yeah, that is our neighbor Lestat. We've never seen him outside during the day, Mom swears she saw a coffin being delivered to his apartment, and I'm pretty sure I heard him sobbing into his pillow the other night. But he plays some sick piano bars and gives out the on-brand candy, so he's cool."
