So many times, I’ve seen people look at AU Collision and go “oh, I don’t really have an AU I can use, I just have something that is an expansion of canon media/too new and underdeveloped/very old and hasn’t been updated in a while/only characters from different official medias interacting with each other/only written and not drawn/too Sonic-OC centric/etc. so I guess I can’t join.” Well, guess what? You CAN join.
As stated on our Carrd’s FAQ, “The term AU, or Alternate Universe, is used loosely within Sonic AU Collision. This means that anything with a distinct difference or variation from canon, will be considered as an AU and may be entered into the Collision. This includes canon-divergence, crossover fusions (I.e. A retelling of Percy Jackson but with Sonic characters), Sonic OC-centric stories, etc.”
The heart of Sonic AU Collision is to bond over the source material (Sonic) and the fandom’s creative spins. Got a story that serves as a character study of Amy? We’d love to see your interpretation of her! Got an AU you made five minutes ago? Sign it up! We’d love to see your AU grow in real time! To us, it’s all AUs. Always has been.
TLDR; any story you made for the STH franchise that isn’t canon (+ doesn’t contain mature or problematic topics) qualifies as an AU and is more than welcome to join the Collision!
