Here’s your yearly reminder that the man who made Rocky Horror is a huge transmisogynist and doesn’t respect trans women in the slightest.

…I mean I thought that was pretty freakin obvious but

I’m sorry but this is quite possibly the dumbest thing I’ve ever read with my two own trans eyeballs, YES there are parts in the movie that could be a little cut edge in today’s times because it’s 40 years old but HOW are you going to say it’s based on a “transgender” character written in a transphobic way??? The leading role is a TRANSVESTITE not a transgender and he is portrayed as such. A transvestite is a man who, get this, identifies as a man!! But derives pleasure!! From dressing! In women’s clothes!!! I don’t give a fuck who you are, today if you saw a man in woman’s clothes! You wouldn’t just say he’s a woman! Because clothes don’t identify gender! The person whose gender it is identifies it!! Not only was this movie written by a trans person, but it was one of the earlier movies that had main characters completely disregarding gender roles! I’m sorry! But I’m getting! A little sick! Of people being so quick to call something this or that when they know almost nothing about the subject. Just to recap: RHPS is in no way a portrayal of a trans woman, it IS the portrayal of a TRANSVESTITE man!!

Oh it's very obvious that Rocky Horror Picture Show was transphobic as fuck, but damn do I still love it. I saw some other replies saying liking the movie makes you transphobic even if you are LGBT+, so I guess my trans ass is transphobic, who knew 🤷‍♂️
