Are Virtual Pop Stars The Next Big Thing?
Japan is known to have the latest advances in technology, including trends that may even seem out of a science fiction movie. Since the late 2000's, there has been a growing trend of virtual concerts, in which the virtual avatars of singers are projected onto a stage in the form of three-dimensional images, being especially popular in Asia. More recently it has begun to also show up in North America, having virtual performances by artists, including Virtual Japanese pop star Hatsune Miku, who performed live on The Late Show With David Letterman.
