the magicians is in all honesty the only form of media I can think of that is more over the top romantic tropes than the actual fanfic written about it like…4 seasons of slow burn mutual pining? feelings magic resulting in an ill-advised hookup? deeply important quest that only 2 people go on? going back in time and living a full life together, falling in love, and raising a family together? ao3 is quaking in its boots

Some of y’all don’t seem to understand that you can respect a character’s complexity and recognize them as well written, and still not like them. And not like them for no other reason than they are just not your cup of tea. Like you can see a character and think “wow this character has come so far and is extremely well developed. This is a powerful, intelligent, strong, character who has both relatable flaws and redeeming good qualities. They have a deep effect on the plot line and the other characters and the story would not be the same with out them. I’m so glad a character like this exists for people to relate to and love on. But damn, they annoy the shit out of me.”

So one thing I got out of the musical episode is that Eliot definitely danced around Margo’s room on a constant basis—while getting ready for parties, while sorting shopping bags, when they got too stressed from finals and he pulled her into a waltz until they were laughing and crying because they had never had anyone who was just sooo good at cheering the other one up.
