"I advocate for Palestinian rights because these are my brothers and sisters"
He was born into a deeply Zionist family. His father was an Israeli general. But he chose to dedicate his life to the liberation of Palestine.
This is the story of Miko Peled—the Israeli who rejected Zionism
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[id subtitles: (grammar kept as is)
[side note says:]
Miko Peled
Israeli-American activist
Founder of Palestine House of Freedom
Washington, DC, US
December 9
Miko Peled: I consider Palestine home Albeit I know my ancestors were colonisers and settlers and so on But I reject what they did and I reject the apartheid state I advocate for Palestinian rights because these are my brothers and sister that are suffering The only option that will benefit everybody who live there is to liberate Palestine from the apartheid state
Narrator: He was born in a deeply Zionist family He is the son of an Israeli general But he chose to dedicate his life to liberating Palestine from Zionism This is the story of Miko Peled
Miko: My parents were born in Palestine My granparents came to colonise in the early 20th century from mostly Russia, Ukraine I had never heard the word Palestine or Palestinians, I think until I was at high school
[cut]
Miko: In 1997, in September, my sister’s little girl She was 12 years old And she was killed in one of these operations in Jerusalem Three young Palestinians blew themselves up and I had to ask myself, what is going on here? What did we create here that can drive people to do something like this?
Narrator: During his compulsory military service Peled says he began to realize how immoral the Israeli army was
Miko: Our commanders would tell us ‘If anybody looks at you, you should break every bone in their body’ And bombing Beirut and all these things made it clear that is had nothing to do with morality It has nothing to do with security It was about power and about killing Palestinians getting rid of the Palestinians
Narrator: In 2023, to amplify Palestinian voices in the US and raise awareness among US officials he founded Dar Alhurriya, a Palestinian cultural center located just steps from Congress in Washington, DC
Miko: I can say things that Palestinians can’t say Or if they feel they can’t say It’s not safe for them to say or they’re not allowed to say So me initiating this and leading it is the result of Palestinians telling me to do this So again, this is like a conduit for their voices
Narrator: After October 7, his family in Israel completely cut him off after he said he understood the reasons and the context that led to it
Miko: I was notified that they don’t have anything to do with me anymore I’ve crossed the line and that was it That was the last communication I had with my family I think I gained more than I lost without any doubt Maybe not a biological family But my Palestinian comrades are my family /id]

Marry, boff, off?
Nietzsche, Descartes, Sartre..
I would marry both Nietzsche and Descartes because I think thus spoke Zarathustra, therefore I am. And I would both boff & off Sartre because of his ideological incoherence. (Simone de Beauvoir is a disappointment for the same reason although The Second Sex has long been my Bible)
But she won't because she's a sellout.
It was all about white supremacy.
But for Black and Brown people running from real atrocities, America can't be their safe-haven.

Ok, so, I used to be a huge fan of Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis -and so obviously I was fascinated by her persona and what she represented as a feminist figure-. I liked the movie so much that I defended it tooth and nail, about fifteen years ago, during arguments on Facebook with friends and family members because of the controversy around the depiction of god in it; and i ended up blocking and getting blocked by those I disagreed with.
I was however deeply disgusted when, during an interview on Democracy Now! in 2024, she started spewing Zionist propaganda against the resistance. She accused Jean Luc Mélenchon -the leader of the left party LFI in France- of antisemitism because of his support of the Palestinian cause. How could such a smart person be so brainwashed and obtuse when it comes to the fight of a people for their basic human rights?
Long story short, she was a disappointment. I wonder if she changed her perception of the Palestinian struggle before she died. What a pity if she didn't.

“We suffer from an incurable malady: Hope.”
— Mahmoud Darwish
Since me being Afrikaans (Boer / White South African) is coming up a bit more, I want to make it *explicitly* clear where I stand:
The white genocide is bullshit
The Afrikaner/Boer refugee program is bullshit
White oppression is bullshit
Reversed Apartheid is bullshit
Let me tell y'all a "secret:" the only reason why we're going through a "genocide" is because the people spouting that idea don't give a fuck about the rest of South Africa.
They do not care that we are the group most insulated from violence, poverty, and unemployment.
They do not care about our own violent history that gave us these protections.
And they sure as fuck do not care about helping to rebuild a country they had a direct hand in breaking down. Many of them were adults during Apartheid. Where was their activism then?
The only reason I'm talking about this is because I do not want there to be any question about where I stand in this debate. Go listen to the South Africans who are actually affected by violence and poverty, not their oppressors.

Your takeaway from the videos Ben Gvir (zionist in charge of the israeli prisons) released of sumud Flotilla activists being humiliated and threatened with physical harm should be that zionists only understand violence, can only be overcome with violence. No amount of peaceful displays and attempts to give aid will succeed without violence. Palestinian prisoners who've been imprisoned for decades were released bc of Qassams violence, because they took israelis prisoners. Was the cost of that horrific of course but if you read palestinian history of resistance, both non violent and violent, non violence has never been more successful than violence. Whether the violence is armed resistance or targeting israels economy with general strikes or targeting the weapons factories, that is the only way forward
