You’ll see my ideas for what he looked like as a kid/teen/etc, some scenes from the noexistent prequel in my brain, and some art of the Trunchbull-like villain

Can’t imagine why a man whose job relies on etiquette and rules might not get along with Eugene! Like a house on fire!

NOTE: This is an analysis of the meaning of the sash BEFORE the series was ever a concept. As in a deep dive if there was any intended symbolism for it in the wedding from its original source. Please do not go "Edmun gave it to him." I know.

So anyway, the Wedding Sash.

I was reading some rando-article on the UK Royals a few months ago and noticed the women wore blue sashes that went across the body and ended at the hip, like Eugene's. It made me curious so I looked them up.

From what I found in research was interesting.

Apparently, sashes with crests/pins like that typically mean the royal or honored man/woman has been granted membership of a chivalric order or knighthood for rendering a great service to the Crown. The sash worn in public events to show that, and the crest design chosen by the ruling monarch who granted it.

In the wedding, and the Frozen cameo he has two different style sashes, but as we only see his back in the cameo, we can only assume one crest.

Have you ever noticed how Eugene reacts to the question?

like if eugene didnt go to the stabbingtons after the boat scene, imagine how different their lives would be, and i can just imagine raps getting her first haircut and her and eugene getting married and they live probably out in old corona and they just live like that yk? maybe going on roadtrips together and visiting different towns and kingdoms

This is a way of experiencing art that risks doing us significant harm.

A book (for example) is entitled to convey various messages, even potentially conflicting ones, without openly declaring any of them the winner, and without necessarily delivering to every reader everything it has to say, but rather what each individual reader is ready to receive. Maybe strange to say, in a time where "media literacy is dead", but we are allowed to not get every meaning in the same way.
