We need a -plan- and information." Samara's hand doesn't release her friend's arm, but the grip is firm if unshaken. The last thing they all needed was Moira thinking she can just bull rush a barely known enemy. Wait.. did Moira hear Sam right? Did she say 'we'? "The last thing HE would want is you dying without cause, let alone for revenge."

Well, yes--no--Moira doesn't know. She probably looks pretty unstable right now, so reporting her may as well be the right thing to do. But come on. That's not Sam. Sam wouldn't do that to her.
Moira's eyes settle briefly on Sam's hand on her arm before moving back to her eyes. Her lips quiver, and it's that last sentence that sets her tears free. Her gaze falls to the floor. Choked up breaths. Tightening chest.
"Yeah, well," she says, voice shaky, weak, broken, "he's not here to tell me that himself, is he?"

It's like someone threw cold water on him. His mouth is open a little bit and he's staring at her like she's some crazy broad because she fucking is. The early 2000's dial up sound is almost about to come out of his mouth before his brain can reboot- "What in the fuck?!"
There's already red starting on high cheekbones are they- and then all he can think of is that stupid fucking paper dress why was she in a stupid fucking and then- He can't think and his ears are red and he needs to move away from her he stands up and paces a few feet away. His voice is loud, but he's gotta get over this. "New topic! Pick something else to talk about, or I'm walking!"
Well, apparently she shouldn't have changed the topic because for some reason, this is the question that undoes him? He tells the story about how his former caretaker betrayed him so casually, but he can't keep a straight face when asked about a girl he may or may not be sleeping with?
Wow. Okay. Seeing Jake red as a tomato was not on her to-do list for the day, but man is it a sight. Part of her wants to take out her phone and snap a few pictures for proof, but she'd have to make a run for it immediately after, because she doubts Jake would let her live.
"Dude, I'm not holding you hostage. You can leave if you want." Moira shrugs. Her voice lowers into a murmur, "Not like I can't pester her for an answer, anyway." And she will. Though if his reaction is anything to go by, the answer is either a yes or I definitely want to.
As amused as she is by all this, she doesn't actually want him to explode just yet, though he makes it so easy. Those harsh features of his sure are the definition of don't judge a book by its cover.
"Okay, uh ... how about you ask me a question then?" she offers. "Tit for tat and all that. It can be as invasive or embarrassing as you want. I don't care."

"Thanks..." But the word lacks the gratitude it's supposed to hold. Her voice dry, hoarse. Face sticky where tears have streamed nonstop for at least an hour.
It's hard to accept Claire's words as sincere when Moira's one step away from losing faith in herself. A little wind could easily push her off the metaphorical ledge.
Moira lies on her side in the same clothes she's been wearing for two days straight. No heart to change. No heart to shower. No heart to eat, saved for the bites Claire forced down her throat.
Sore, puffy eyes look up to meet blue ones. She's always looked up to Claire. Always wanted to be as strong and resilient as her. Did Claire have days like this, too? Where she just lay in bed like a useless pile of garbage, rotting away? Where everything felt pointless? Where she wished she'd have died in one of the million times she'd stood face to face with death?
Lips purse to fight the quivering. A sniffle makes her throat all blocked up. "But why?"
