before my egg cracked, i had noticed that trans people were often pro-accessibility and up-to-date on the needs of disabled people, but i hadn’t seen any inherent connection between the two (other than the obvious minority-looking-out-for-other-minority thing). but now that i’m trans and medically transitioning, and i have to constantly repeat myself while talking to doctors and nurses, and explain things about my own anatomy to medical staff who should already know this, and having every single problem i might have blamed on my “condition” so nothing i say is taken seriously, all of the sudden i have a little sneak peak into the life of someone who has to deal with this all the time. like shit bro, being disabled probably sucks ass, someone should do something about this

what little discussion there is about the history of the horror genre monstering trans women that isnt being done by trans women fails to acknowledge that it hasnt really stopped. two years ago we were having the exact same discussions about long legs. the fact that people occasionally, begrudgingly admit silence of the lambs is transmisogyistic doesnt mean much when the genre cant stop pulling the same shit. its evident that we have not reconciled with the way horror does this because it continues to get celebrated when for continuing to do it.

popular culture has not reconciled with the way it treats transfemininity as something to be reviled and feared. It continues to do this.

thats the thing right? the tweet says "reconciled" not "talked about". even if we took for granted that the paltry discussion of the subject deserved more credit than twitter op gives it, she did not say its never been discussed. she is not still technically wrong because conversation on the subject has happened because she did not say that it didnt. in response to "we havent dealth with this", it is a non sequitur to say "it has been talked about." thats not even getting into the the condescension based on age.

The princess I kidnapped and keep locked in my tower recently got on tumblr and has since been complaining that I don't respect her 'hmphs' enough. I'm not sure she understands our relationship.
