Ron was rude but not because he is innately mean but because he is innately kind. So kind taht he lived unchallenged, able to grow in his beliefs and loving family, but when he was challenged he sort of digs his heels in and lashes out before thinking. Ron is rude because he never had to practice being nice, he always had his kindness and that had always been enough.

Hermione was smart, but not in the simple, memorization, school abiding way. Not only in that way. She was smart the way that knowledge added to her, instead of worked for her. She was a hungry black hole sucking in all new information, always greedy to learn more. She was different from Ron that way. He was always ready to find a comfortable place and settle in. She was always looking to make adjustments. Maybe that’s why they worked. Taht was definitely why they fought.

Harry was good but not from lack of evil and not bc he chose good. But bc he bore the burden of goodness bravely. Every choice was made for him and he was always meant to die but he would never pass it on to another. Harry was good bc his instinct was always to be clever, but he let himself play the game to his death bc he knew that’s the winning play. Harry was good bc he loved others more than himself—and it’s easy to die a martyr but Harry consistently chose to live sacrificing.

reminder to all disabled people that you’re allowed to tell people “i can’t do that” about stuff you can ‘technically’ do but which harms you or requires a period of recovery or preparatory rest etc. you don’t have to explain the complex nuances of your condition to anybody who demands it. i’ve found it’s honestly better to give the least amount of info about your symptoms unless you trust a person a lot. you hold the power over your health information. you choose whether or not to share the details of your condition with people who might not understand.
