I feel like there is something criticaly wrong with event horizen (1997) it feels like it was so close to a really good story about rushed and underfunded science causing deaths, but it ends up being a science is dangerous and we should not do science movie. I feel like even just a few lines about how the project was rushed because of whatever reason would have fixed the movie for me.

I think that the modern (past 5 or so years) structure of social media lends its self to the desenitization of its users. It does this by interlacing tragedy with humor, you hear about a horiffic child trafficking case, or people dying in 45° heat, then you scroll and the algorithim shows you a meme, you laugh, but because the memory or the tragedy is still fresh your brain sees the tragady as part of the meme not a seperate thought.

When Grace dies he asks for his body to be turned to ashes, and then into a statue. The statue has him sitting, legs crossed, arms curled slightly, with his palms on his knees. He says in his final message there is a reason for this very specific positioning, but that he can't say what it is.

Time continues forward. Rocky and Adrian grow and change. They move house a couple of times. Rocky changes career from engineer, to inventor, to scientist, to diplomat, to teacher. Adrian picks up a new hobby every few decades. They explore other parts of Erid they've never seen. They meet humans on more than one occasion, but there's something about it... Something not quite right. The Eridian mind can never forget, and no matter how much time passes, Rocky feels it. Missing Grace. His human.

And then time really does move on. Rocky walks stiffly, Adrian sleeps for weeks at a time, they both eat less often due to how draining it is.

And one day, the temperature is perfect. Adrian wakes earlier than they have in years. The warmth loosens Rocky's arthritis, the wind is quiet that day, and sound can carry for miles because of it. The soil is quiet, ready, resonant. And they both know.

They go for a walk, take a dip in the sea, attend a choir in a crystal cave. And then, without fanfare, when no one else is around, they visit Grace. And Rocky climbs into his stone lap. And Adrian curls their body around Grace too. Just like Grace did hundreds of years ago, they let go, no scream, no pain, just peace and togetherness. Too beautifully intertwined to ever untangle.

And there they sit, three stones, for the rest of time.

One time when I was a kid a group of girls and I had to treat another student for hypothermia by ourselves because she had so many invisible health issues that the adults we asked for help didn't believe us. The student in question was actively hallucinating. When I finally ran for help the people I grabbed were slow as shit to respond, casually joking about how "dramatic" the person in question was.

The kid was picked up by an ambulance 30 minutes later.

Now as an adult working in security I get SO MANY folks- upper-middle aged mostly- coming to me to 'rat out' people they think are faking it.

I was once sent into a bathroom because a client demanded that the "fucker won't get out, so go drag them out"- I was NEVER going to do that, so I did a wellness check instead. You know who it was? A person recently released from the hospital after a car accident. They had a hole in their skull and major hearing loss. They couldn't answer the owner because they couldn't HEAR the owner.

Another time about a homeless man who got around town by kicking the ground from his wheelchair. "You know he doesn't actually need that thing, his legs work fine, it's just for pity points"- Oh, so he's not paralyzed, his wheelchair is performative? Funny story Dale, I actually know that guy, he was backed over by a truck and has chronic pain from his shattered pelvis. But sure, let's make him stand up and walk everywhere so nobody feels too bad for him and tries to help him or something.

"She doesn't need that scooter, I've seen her get out of it."

"Look how fat he is, because he just rides around and refuses to get up."

"She doesn't really need that cane- she comes here without it all the time"

You can explore dark themes and be normal btw. You can have incest/pdophilia in a story and show how disgusting it is instead of acting like it's another cutsie ship. You can do that. You can depict things and be normal about it. You can write a story about grooming and molestation and incest and WHATEVER but maybe NOT write it the same way as you write a normal relationship. If you write something like that and you think your audience won't leave disturbed, youre not doing it right.

I would like to start this with a bit about my identity to provide context into my perspective. I am a white trans bisexual, who also has ADHD and depression and my brother is autistic. Also chronic pain.

TLDR: The people the hate minorities don't really see minorities as people and more a culture machines and porn catagories

I find it very interesting that a lot of homo/transphobes and racists still partake in the culture of their hated groups. I think the reason that they partake in the culture is because they don't see us as people but porn catagories and culture machines, they strip away our rights while listening to music genres made by black people (basicaly all of them) or preformed by queer people. Dressing in clothes styled after queer or black fashion, watching porn that stars trans people or lesbians (IDK if that also applies to black people) and cis straight women who read bl or have "gay best friends" while having overtly homophobic boyfreinds.

also the trendiness of learning disabilities while also hating on disabled people (especialy autism at least right now). They claim to care about disabled people while also not really sympathizing with the struggle of being disabled.

Note: I will probably only be tagging this with queer and disability tags and not black tags (is that even the right way of saying it?) becuase I more added the stuff about black people becuase I also noticed that.

Note 2: I probably should've split this into multiple post becuase it's a bit ranty.
