hey, i was just reading the elbert chapter of agokaf, and i was really curious about the capitalization of some of the pronouns in the fic β like, in some sentences, βheβ would be written as βHeβ or βhimβ would be written as βHimβ, and other instances of that. could you explain why you made this choice? was it indicative of elbertβs mental state, like how he doesnβt reveal his or grayceβs names until the end? or is this a stylistic choice to set a certain mood, or something else? oh, also, i was curious about how talia ended up marrying, since she was very adamant about not being married at the end of the s2 au. did her feelings change? was she in love with harlen? thanks for your time :)
Casting my mind back a lifetime ago,,,,,,
...I think my intent with not revealing names was to hide identities. Elbert and Grayce were already named in fanon so I wanted to keep it a bit of a mystery who the chapter was about (I bet I named the chapter "Elbert" and defeated the whole purpose).
As for Harlen and Talia, I think they were in actual love - Talia probably would marry for duty but things would have to be absolutely dire, not the more hopeful circumstance agokaf had, so it's more likely there was genuine romance. They met in their teens so maybe it was rushed and doomed anyway. Harlen turned problematic as he got older. I think there's an implication that he hit someone he shouldn't have and Talia kicked his ass so hard he was never heard from again. I think he either fled south or she genuinely killed him in the frenzy which is why she's so morose as an adult and parent.
