I love Azula, she is my bais, everything focus on her before come to ships.
Azula & Everyone came before Azula/Everyone.
HC for Azula is Queer/Asexual/Pansexual, it could be bisexual as well.
I bais Azula doesn't mean I ignore her action from canon, she did do “bad” thing, but she wasn't the one who should be responsible all consequence or be the scapegoat for the adult(Ozai, Iroh & Ursa) action. She isnt EVIL. Mostly people prejudice her by one male character.
Iroh, Ursa and Ozai are all A+++ parenting for both child.👊
I DO anti-Zuko, usually is anti-fanon Zuko, the only reason I anti-canon Zuko is when fandom analyze shit about perfect victim and find shit excuse for his shit action at canon. Always ignore the Analyze written by Zutara and some Zuko fans, mostly a good post will become shit when it comes to Azula. The only I won‘t ignore is they over “evil” about Azula.
Other than Azula, my fav character at ALTA is most female character, no Ursa include, thank you. Ursa sure are victim from Ozai abused, but she wasn't victim how to treat a child, no excuse.

According to the survey results Azula week will be held on August 1st-7th!
We have enough prompts for participates being able to chose from two on each day. The prompts are the following;
August 1st: Fire Dancer or Burn
August 2nd: Protective Azula or Survival
August 3rd: No War AU or Azula & Phoenixes
August 4th: Ember Island or Discovery
August 5th: Neruodivergant or Power
August 6th: Band AU or Friend
August 7th: Home or Mothers
I tried to put compatible themes together so that people can combine them if they like both prompts.
Hope to see everyone on August 1st-7th! Feel free to start writing now, just don’t post anything yet. I’ll post rule reminders closer to the event date. Thanks all for submitting prompts and voting!
Honestly, I think the idea that Zuko’s banishment is actually what completely wrecked Zuko and Azula’s relationship is pretty compelling, that they had a semi-decent relationship until Zuko’s anger and resentment at her exploded since at some level he blamed Azula for his banishment, while Azula spent 3 years alone with Ozai poisoning her against Zuko, all the while she was mad at Zuko for getting banished and leaving her alone.
Is easy to blame someone doesn't has the “power”, or his subconscious about Azula is someone week them him at positions
He, as a male, first born, crown prince, because he were banished, he think his “position” will be Azula take over, and so he kept brainwash himself with Ozai's word that Azula is lucky, altho he knew he were lucky, but he is suffering, and Azula look so “confident”, is easy to “blame” someone then abuser or someone nice to him bring him to this situation. Also Zuko isn't the type who will self-blame, he always blame the “world” make him, the “environment” he has been, the person who born and do better then him that was “prodigy” and thinks they didn't headwork like him.
Of course, when he grow old he might realized or maybe not, because that is something subconscious thought(by Ozai). And people surrounding around him saying he were good form start, just in the wrong place, etc. This type of info matches Zuko's subconscious.
If being good was “betray” someone close too you and never feel bad for it(doesn‘t matter someone is good or bad, is about do you treat they important, if don't…)…that's no point being back together again. There always something can't fix, even do fix there always have a scar over there.

I've opened up voting over here. Please select no more than seven prompts. Let me know if the link is broken. If you sent a prompt and I have forgotten to include it, feel free to let me know on my main @bellatrixobsessed1
Voting will close before around June 15th. It has been a little hectic for me IRL so thanks for being patient with me.
jeez finally some azula stuff doesn't demonize her - she was abused like zuko was too, just in a different way, and did what she thought was best out of loyalty and duty and I hate the way bryke handled her. she has SO MUCH potential and is such an interesting and complex character. thanks for your blog and for speaking truth lol. do you have any good azula redemption fic recs? or azula with the gaang/ozai's angels, because i'm a sucker for that, and i love her dynamic w toph especially lol
Honestly, I've recommended so many fanfics at this point that it's very hard for me to keep track. Here's a list:
"The Dragon of the West" by @lightdancer1 (Ozai dies; dark Iroh becomes firelord). @lightdancer1ancer1 also has a lot of other great Azula AU's that you can easily find.
"Sunstroke" by ohmytomatosoup (Azula escapes from an abusive asylum).
"Fading Falsehoods" by @bellatrixobsessed1 (Azula/Suki pairing; @bellatrixobsessed1 has many great Azula fics centered around various pairings).
"Ungoodthinker" by Lavanya Six (Ursa has some interesting opinions on Zuko's regime).
"All The Pain of Yesterday" by ButterflyGirl006 (a dying Azula returns home).
"you make a really good girl (as girls go)" by suzukiblu (incredible Azula/Yue political marriage fic).
"The Bear against the Dragon" by @julietwiskey1 (postwar, Ursa and Iroh struggle over Azula's fate).
"Ember, Ash, and Kindling" by Rebecca Hb (beckyh2112) (very original plot and premise).
"Cinder: The Life and Times of Avatar Azula" by @battleangelaelita
the "Ashes like snow" series by @cielocomedown
"Broken Destiny" by Black_Velvet_360 (Zuko tries to kill Azula; unexpected consequences result).
The "salt and ashes" series by @ultranos(An Azula and Zuko roleswap taken to its logical conclusion).
"the fight chooses you" by @chaoticsandstorm (postwar vigilante Azula). She also has some other great fics.
And this is just a sampling. If you look through the "link" posts in the archive of my blog, you'll see I've shared a lot of other fics too.
I’m gonna rewatch avatar over the summer and compile a bunch of lists with specific timestamps to help support and disprove arguments I want to make, seen as you cant exactly go to the avatar wiki and search up ‘every time in avatar zuko is a bit of a dick’, so, I thought I’d be a good samaritan and put it out to the public, anything y'all want me to keep note of? It can be small things like 'how many times does aang suggest goofing off instead of heading toward the mission’ to larger things like 'how often does sokka do/say something thats kinda sexist.’ I’ll be sure to tag anyone who asks when their list is compiled.
How does Sokka know Azula/Areshi is a lesbian? Did she tell him?
"So I gotta ask: what are two Fire Nationals doing all the way out here in the middle of the Earth Kingdom and not, you know, trying to take everything over?" Sokka asks Areshi when he finds her chopping wood outside. It's not that he doesn't trust her or her mom, but...no, he pretty much doesn't trust them yet.
Wolf-gold eyes glance at him before focusing again on the logs in front of her. Areshi shrugs. "Living, mostly."
"Hah hah," he deadpans. "No really." He sighs and rubs the back of his neck. "You didn't have to help us back in town. And...judging how a lot of people there seem to, uh..."
"Hate my face on principle?"
Sokka grimaces. "I wasn't going to say it like that. But, yeah, basically. You gotta admit, it'd be a lot easier on you if you were actually in the Fire Nation."
Areshi is quiet for a bit, the only sounds the thunk of the axe biting into the wood. "You sure about that?" she finally asks, voice soft.
Something about how she says it makes him stop short. There's a hint of something in her voice, a something that he doesn't expect, never even thought to expect, to come from a Fire National, much less an actual ashmaker. Or...he thinks, considering Areshi, maybe just a firebender.
Is that it? Is there a difference between the two? They've been one and the same for so long in Sokka's head that untangling the two words is strange. But putting Areshi and Eri in the same category as the rest just...doesn't seem right. Not just because they helped him and the rest out of a tight spot. Nah, he knows people can do them nice favors while still being awful.
This isn't the same. It's that hint of something in Areshi's voice, a weight of hurt and fear and dread that's all too familiar.
And damn it, Sokka's always been too curious for his own good. "What do you mean?"
She doesn't answer for long enough that he wonders if she didn't hear him. "Here, they might hate me, but they're honest about it. They don't actively want me dead and hide it behind claims of being family."
"What?"
Areshi looks uncomfortable. He's about to tell her nevermind, to forget he ever asked, when she shakes her head and sighs. "I...Eri told you guys how I was...separated from her until recently, right? My father...heard a rumor that I was a, uh, sleeve-cutter. He wasn't pleased." She looks away, the tips of her ears red. "The fact that it's true didn't help."
("Areshi loves women, not men," Eri later explains bluntly when he asks her quietly for clarification. "Her father is willing to have my little girl die for the sin of loving who he thinks is the wrong person. She can't be exactly the little toy soldier he wants her to be, so she's useless to him and there's no place for useless things in a Fire Nation ruled by a son of Azulon.")
He blinks, unsure. She shrugs and swings the axe with quite a bit of force, splitting the wood in front of her. "With him knowing that, it wasn't exactly safe for me to stick around. And it wasn't like I had anyone else to help me. My uncle hates my guts on the basis that I exist in the first place, I think, so that wasn't even worth the effort."
"And...you didn't...running into enemy territory was seriously your best option?" Sokka doesn't know if he even wants to know the answer to this question.
She shrugs again, a little too forced to be completely nonchalant. "My older brother and I never got along, at least half of that's my fault, so I can't be surprised he blew me off before I could even admit I needed help." There's a sharp twist to her smile. "I guess I even had it coming. Even if it did still sting."
Sokka thinks if he frowns any harder, it's going to be permanently etched into his face. He doesn't know what to say to that, doesn't even know what to think. (Even when Katara drives him absolutely bonkers, he'd never in a million years do that to her. If she ever needed help that bad and he'd blown her off, and he found out? He'd rather eat glass and wash it down with boiling whale oil.)
Maybe there isn't anything he can say.
"Here, give me the axe," he says gruffly, holding out a hand. "You're making me feel lazy, doing all that chopping while I'm just standing here and not helping."
Areshi stops and gives him a long look. Sokka doesn't waver under the gaze of those wolf-gold eyes, just stands there with his hand out, palm up. Waiting.

Mfers talking about zuko atoning for his sins by joining the gaang imagine it azula had the nerve to walk up to to Mai and Ty lee and demand that they need her in their group so they can fix things and save the world the Zuzu stans would have a fucking field day
Reasons for Fire Lord Azulon to dislike/overlook Azula:
1. She's second-born.
This is obvious with the way he worded Iroh's claim, "do you ask me to betray Iroh, my first born" and punishing Ozai by using the pain of losing a "firstborn". The fact he harshly responded to Ozai's reasonable request; playing blatant double standards between the two brothers is most likely stem not simply from of Ozai's lack of tact/audacity but from the brothers' birth order essentially.
2. She's a girl.
Azulon gives zero interest in Azula's skills (calling it a waste of time), it may not necessarily be because of gender but the way he's still held Zuko as a worthier sacrifice despite being the less trained and skilled gives no other indicator than he doesn't think less of Zuko because he's first-born son and that alone is a huge privilege (for Ozai to lose).
3. She's Ozai’s ally.
The Palace Azulon lived in for 9 decades has eyes and ears everywhere, it would be easy to report to Azulon's about Azula's comments i.e how Ozai would be better fit for the throne than Iroh, how Azulon is no longer strong enough to rule...est. Azulon would know this is a kid his ambitious second-born trained and groomed for his benefit, therefore Azula is not an heir he can like or trust because of her loyalty to Ozai.

ok so i screenshotted this moment because i thought it was pretty cool
the first time we get to see all four elements working together for a common enemy, blah blah blah, but i started laughing because
sokka’s fucking boomerang. sokka threw a fucking boomerang at princess azula, renowned lightning bender and heir-apparent to the throne of the fire nation.
Azula considered Sokka to be the biggest threat in this group and countered him first. What this picture miss is Sokka sanding nearby. All members of this group unleash their attack at same time, but Azula reacts to boomerang first. If you watch this part in slow motion, you could see that Sokka’s boomerang was the first thing that would hit Azula and may even incapacitate her making her unable to continue to fight. So she had to counter in first. She deflected it with well placed shoot.
Then and only then, when there is no immediate threat, she starts to create her blue fire wall to counter other elements.
Lets think about this. How hard should you have to throw something to make it move faster that any elemental attack? Either all elemental attacks are slow or you are pretty strong. That said nonbenders with good aim and strong hands could easily overpower benders if they timed it right.(Aang got captured by Yuan archers who are all nonbenders.) Azula knew of this and acted according to it. She is talented bender and you may think that she should enlist other benders to help her track and capture Zuko, Iroh, and later avatar, but instead she uses her nonbender friend to help her.
Even if you have no bending you can still fight… and win.
Let’s not forget that on the Day of Black Sun, Sokka was the one in charge and Azula was no idiot Azula knew that.
When Aang, Sokka, and Toph all confronted Azula, she proceeded to make them chase her and waste their time. Azula is not only talented, she’s sly and smart as hell. WHO WAS THE ONE WHO SAW THROUGH THAT BS CHASE?
Sokka.
NOT ONLY THAT
but after Sokka explains to the Gaang that Azula is just baiting them, Azula actually verbally attacks Sokka. Not through fighting, but through words, knowing not only that an intelligent person like him could only be brought down with emotions BUT that Sokka was the leader and if she could get him the stay, Aang and Toph would follow his lead.
Azula knew Sokka was their strength and took him down. WOULD SHE DO THAT IF HE WASNT A SIGNIFICANT THREAT TO HER!!??!
No. She wouldn’t waste her time and energy on someone she didn’t think was capable of actually getting in her way.
WHEN SHE GETS HER FIREBENDING BACK SHE HAS THE OPTION OF ATTACKING BADASS METAL BENDING TOPH AND THE FUCKING AVATAR
WHO DOES SHE ATTACK?!?!
Azula never underestimated the power of non benders especially an intelligent one like Sokka. Sokka was a huge threat to fucking Azula on multiple occasions.
I mean, Azula’s friends/most trusted warriors were two non-benders. Mai was an expert with thrown weapons and Tai Lee was the only chi blocker shown in the first series, and she was able to take down half a groups of earth nation soldiers like that. Azula knows that non-benders are dangerous and she sees sokka for the genius he is
She’s knows she can take bending, she can redirect fire and she’s fought Katara a lot- but unlike Zuko she was probably never trained with weapons, she knows she has no defense to a sword or a club, and she knows that one of Ty Lee’s biggest advantage is that people underestimate her
