there's no joy. like i know this sounds at first blush like rainbow tie-dye cope, but seriously, after you've looked at 350 of these in 10 minutes, the utter lack of any feeling apart from wry, bitter, self-satisfied exultation in the tiniest most pathetic experiences of power gets to be impossible to ignore. they know on some deep level that they're punching down because the emotional hit — which you can look back in one moment and watch them chase a hundred times — is that little grim satisfaction that comes from lashing out at something that can't hit back.

One thing I will add is that in the same way that we're not going to change their opinions by being nice to them, we may not change their opinions by being mean to them either. in some cases both can have impact, but it depends on the context. a lot of people have the views they do because they suit them, even if they're selfish. in these cases its not a simple misunderstand that can be solved with dialogue or by making them feel a certain way, its a battle between actual positions in society, just as wars are (generally) fought over resources, political struggle is fought over class, over who owns property and who gets to have a say in society. if a property owner only wants property owners to be able to vote, thats not an emotional or intellectual failure, its rational self interest, its just rational self interest that opposes the rest of society, and the rest of us need to build power to struggle against those social positions together, to try and make less divided across class and property ownership, but also across race and gender and sex etc. not just by being kind to each other or mean to each other, but by aligning everyones interests, so no one benefits from starving someone else.

small note: you're right that being mean to people can sometimes help, its one way to shift their incentives, because people want you to be nice to them and especially if you have social capital “meanness” can entail real exclusion, its a type of force, so there is real power there. In the same way, by being nice to people you can reward them socially for acting in pro-social ways, and that can be just as helpful for building solidarity as being mean to bigots can be.

lastly, not literally everyone who disagrees politically is doing so out of self interest, while most politicians do, a lot of regular people are “capitalists” who own no capital. you can shift those through discussion by drawing on their class incentives and illustrating how xyz policy is in their best interests. this is a big reason why its important to identify peoples real material incentives when speaking with them, it makes you more helpful and can save you a lot of trouble trying to change someones mind when they genuinely have no good reason to listen to you

We are not a part of the solidarity that TME trans people envision because they are just as eager to build the tranny killing machine as any cis person. We are an obstacle to their "solidarity," not a part of it.

So, fun fact. I live in a third world country where being trans is highly frowned upon in a way that you couldn't even imagine, and there is no legal, financial, or medical support for transitioning. It's not even a possibility within the country. If we want to physically transition, we have to do DIY HRT or go to another country to receive gender affirming surgeries (extremely expensive).

This doesn't mean I've never met another trans person in real life, because I have. But we don't get to just form communities and meetups like you do because it is actively fucking dangerous for us to do so. And furthermore, it is because I have met real life trans people who live in the same conditions I do that I have recognized the disproportionate difference in how many transmascs there are + how they're treated vs. how many transfems there are + how they're treated.

Transandrophobia isn't real because there is no form of oppression that is specific to transmascs. There is no "intersection" between transphobia and misandry because the latter isn't real. Misandry is not real in any way shape or form. It is not a form of systemic oppression, it never has been.

Misogyny is a real axis of oppression, which is why terms like transmisogyny (transphobia/misogyny intersection), misogynoir (antiblackness/misogyny intersection), and lesbophobia (homophobia/misogyny intersection) exist.

I’ve used a cane almost daily over the course of the past 7 years because of my several flavors of spinal damage, joint issues (not EDS), severe chronic pain, and an autonomic system disorder that makes me pass out/almost pass out basically whenever my body feels like it when I’m unmedicated (and sometimes when medicated too lmfao)

I’ve had a lot of other disabled folks, especially other disabled Black and disabled Trans folks, tell me how much it matters to them to see someone like me, like them, being openly disabled and not being ashamed of it. How it made them less scared to be *themselves* to see me existing and doing my thing, even/especially in terms of interacting with their sexuality while disabled thanks to me being visibly disabled and having done SW/lingerie modeling.

So that’s whats with the cane. Being visibly disabled doesn’t make us less attractive and doesn’t make us lesser, and you shouldn’t feel comfortable questioning why someone is using a mobility aid.

I spent alot of vacation time as a kid there before I knew enough to start refusing to go. Do you have any reccomendations for building a ritual to apologize to the spirits there? Ritual is the physicalization of magic. Spirits ain’t gonna rest or accept an apology alone if they ain’t already gone by this point. You have to do the material work before you touch anything else.

Literally just do the research to identify the still living descendants of the enslaved people who were on it, then figure out a way to force the company to designate a portion of their profits as ongoing reparations for them split among living members. Consider it a lineage pension.

Do not reach out to the families initially unless you know the company will be resistant, and if they are, then add external pressure. If your family specifically were the slaveholders, use that potential of public shame vs. looking altruistic and good to help push it.

If you speak to families directly, don’t push your white guilt on them. Yes you can give direct apology ONCE but anything more than that unless requested is more for you than them.

Do not *offer* for them to come visit/do ancestor shit bc that’s sus af from someone nonblack in this situation, but be willing to facilitate if they ask.
