It's been a long time since I posted about my quest for a dog for my dog, mostly because she was able to live with my housemates' dogs for some years, but we never gave up the quest entirely, and those dogs have since sadly passed from old age.

I've gotten her weight back down a ways from unsupervised housemates giving her way too much unhealthy crap, but kinda stuck because she's exceedingly unenthused about exercise nowadays unless there's another dog involved. We decided to go through Obnoxious Invasive Shelter Application Hell again when I found out there was a senior Malamute who'd been stuck in the no-kill shelter for years. Shionni liked him instantly.

Five months of work to train with him a couple hours a week and prove to a lot of know-it-all shelter people I know more about Malamutes than they do. Dog shelter runners continue to be the most condescending and annoying group of people to not have their shit together while expecting you to jump through all their hoops without question.. however....

Tomorrow, the quest should be officially complete.

Shionni has been waiting thirteen years but she seems really happy with her choice so far. You can see a lot of smiles in the above photos instead of her usual Judgemental Side Eye as seen below.

BLM has published a plan to maximize logging in Oregon forests, including old growth forests, without due regard to wildlife (including endangered species) and waterways. They're claiming it will help prevent forest fires, though that seems to be contrary to current science, including that published by the forest service (you can find a list of sources here). This is in response to Trump's executive orders 14223, Addressing the Threat to National Security From Imports of Timber, Lumber, and Their Derivative Products and 14225, Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production.
