I was thinking about how sad it was that Grace had friends like Carl and Marissa on Earth that he was really close with but who he never saw again and never got to be a part of the life he created.

Then I started to think about irl friendships. I have friends that are very dear to me but who I haven’t seen or talked to in years. I have friends today who don’t know anything about those old friends or how close we once were outside of passing mentions. It made me realize that stuff like that is just… a part of life.

Yes, for Grace it was objectively more traumatic and forceful than simply drifting apart and far more permanent but the fact that he had these old relationships on Earth who will never know Rocky, who will never know this post-Mary Grace, and whom he will not see again is not as wholly tragic as it seems. He will never see those friends again or talk to them, he won’t know the versions of them that grew in the years he spent in space. But that doesn’t diminish the time he DID have with them and sometimes, the only thing we can do— even if we’re not 16 light years away— is wish those old friends the best and cherish the memories made with them.

I like to imagine a sleep deprived and pissed off Ryland Grace uses his teacher phrases but in his "ragefull, yelling at collegues and getting kicked out of acadamia" voice.

"SEE ME AFTER CLASS!" *he then stormed off and now the poor sod that pissed of Dr. Grace is standing outside his office door like he's entering the execution chamber*

AI has made the internet so much less fun. I don't want to question whether a photo of a bunny is real. I don't want to worry about someone making a deepfake just because I posted a pic with my friends. I want to read a recipe and know that the photo is a real cake they made. Yes I know I need to touch grass but also I think I should be allowed to interact online without second-guessing whether someone fabricated every image for personal gain

i know folks are gonna call me a pedo for this one, but i grew up seeing my mom and grandma naked. they had health issues and at times needed care and help showering. and i truly think more kids need to be shown the nonsexual reality of naked women at a young age. there is nothing sexual about my grandmothers breasts, they were simply body parts. more women die of heart attacks because people are too afraid of breasts to do real chest compressions, because they are scared to touch their breasts. the sexualization of our bodies literally kills us. i need people to be more normal about naked bodies and i'm 100% serious.
