Reblog if you’re over 20 and still read/write fan fiction.
I’m curious!
Normally, I just reblog this kind of thing with a note like, “not only do I read/write fanfic, I have an over-20 child who does the same.” But.
Who da hell do you think manages the Archive of Our Own? Who created it; who does the coding; who WENT TO CONGRESS three times to argue for our constitutionally-protected right to show Kirk boinking Spock?
Hint: it wasn’t people under 20.
Who do you think makes the content on AO3? Sure, lots of teens… but lots and lots and LOTS of not-teens. The OTW′s been around for almost 10 years - the people who put up the first content sure as hell weren’t 10 and under at the time. (Or is there the assumption that the teenagers of 10 years ago wandered away and are no longer participating in fic fandom?)
The more I think about it, the less I understand this kind of question. Do teenagers actually believe the people who manage fic archives like AO3 and fanfiction.net are not involved in fic fandom? That they do coding and deal with complaints and register the domain and all that, but don’t read any of the fic?
…Quite.
So, I’ve been pulled over a few times in my life. Not many, but a few. And I’ve also been in a couple of cars that got pulled over. And let me tell you, if you were actually doing something wrong, the officer doesn’t make any small talk, just straight into “I clocked you doing 70 in a 55.” The only time I’ve ever gotten the “do you know why I pulled you over?” was the time when I wasn’t doing anything wrong, and I got let go even though he insisted to the end that I was doing 87 in a 70 (white privilege at work).
“Do you know why I pulled you over?” is a trap. It means there’s a good chance the officer doesn’t actually have a good reason to ticket you, and is trying to get you to waive your 5th Amendment rights and incriminate yourself. If you make a guess, that’s a confession of guilt.
But there’s another trap, that I’ve heard of but haven’t yet experienced. It’s “do you know how fast you were going?” With that one, they’re hoping you’ll say no, because then they can name whatever speed they want – you just said you didn’t know how fast you were going, if you deny the speed they name then you’re lying to them.
Oh, I’ve had that one. Go with “yes.” Don’t give them a number, just say “Yes.” Then they still have to offer a number and you can deny it without contradicting yourself. They could just ask you, at that point, but that’s suspiciously similar to saying they don’t know, and they tend to avoid doing that.
Reblog to save a life
if you scroll past this just because it doesn’t affect you personally, i see you.
Also, you can always go to court and contest a ticket, and a lot of times you’ll win. Or if the cop thinks you’ll win they won’t even show up and you’ll win by default.
They like to target out of state plates because anyone who would be majorly inconvenienced by a court date two months away is a lot more likely to just pay it.

Queer Women in Nazi Germany
I Will Not Abandon You brings to life the unrelenting defiance of queer women in fascist Germany. In his latest book, award-winning historian Samuel Clowes Huneke shows how love, queer resistance, and collective action survived in the harrowing circumstances of Nazi rule. Drawing on a decade of archival research, Huneke takes readers into a hidden world, from the wartime balls that lesbian activists continued to organize to the concentration camps where women accused of loving women were imprisoned. Following a diverse cast of characters, Huneke reveals both the oppression that queer women faced and how they resisted fascism in solidarity with one another. Arguing that this solidarity - which transcended race, class, and gender - offers a compelling alternative to today's fractured identity politics, I Will Not Abandon You is a vital, new history of queer life under fascism and a call to rethink the foundations of progressive politics today.
This is Making Queer History's 10th Pride season! This project has expanded so much from the one-person show that started it all. There is now a podcast, a series of articles, a public domain library, a writing group, and regular sharing of good queer news. With all of this bustling around, I always hope that the value of this project is self evident. I expect that everyone will concurrently realize that our Patreon is a great place to be and sign up.
But then I remember myself, and my own nature of forgetting to support good things until I am reminded, and I feel a little silly.
So this is your reminder! Making Queer History is doing fantastic things, and you should become a part of that journey! Check out our Patreon, can't wait to meet more of you!

Mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, has been cleared of criminal charges after being reprimanded for organising Budapest Pride 2025.
The Mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, has had his criminal charges dropped in relation to organising the 2025 Budapest Pride march. Hungarian authorities charged him over organising the event, after a direct order from Viktor Orbán’s government banned public gatherings involving the LGBTQ+ community, stating that those who violated the order would face criminal prosecution. While at the Pride march, Karácsony made a speech in which he said, “Neither freedom nor love can be banned in Budapest.”

The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan has approved a plan to introduce LGBTQ+ education resources, which is set to be signed off on soon.
Japan has approved a plan to roll out LGBTQ+ education resources in schools, workplaces, universities and homes across the nation for the first time. The finer details of the plan are not yet public, but reports have suggested that schools will be given the tools to provide information to students about LGBTQ+ people, at the same time giving stronger access to social workers and counsellors for students to use at their discretion. Universities are also expected to revise their curricula to adopt teachings that offer healthcare students access to LGBTQ+ education.

Continue?
Is it okay to finish an on-going Hermione Snape and the Divergence Point if the fandom's author is evil? every few months I debate this and would like to know what others think. I have passion for the project, and would like to finish, but the guilt for continuing to engage with the fandom is immense .
Thoughts?
