The set and outfits were great and I liked Some of the actors. I liked how they removed a lot of the sexual stuff which is cool bc y'know.

A lot of the changes were interesting bc it's not just the same as before but a cool new spin but the ending was so fucking stupid I hated that.

So. Was this a good movie? Not quite but it was decent. Do I recommend this movie? I do to fans of the movie who want a bit more and to ppl who don't want to watch the og bc it's too shocking.

it could be interesting to have the aesthetics match of Japanese Guro (the shorthand hentai genre, not the full Ero-Guro-nansensu genre). At leaat from my experience you get a higher focus on the victim, the viscerality, and it tends to be a lot 'grosser', not affraid to include insects or harm the victim in a way that makes them ugly.

Meanwhile, snuff tends to be more focused on the victims pleasure than the victims pain, and the victims are always conventionally attractive until the scene ends, you definetly don't see a girl with a busted lip, missing teeth, and a crooked nose as much, the girls in snuff manage to keep their hair perfectly in place post-mortem.

I would also even draw a line between the more classical EGN from decades ago and modern Guro. It can make political critiques like in Metamorphoses, but its sort of evolved past an anti-censorship campaign (in part because the advent of the internet diminished the need) and become largely just fetish content.

Tbh, I think a better equivalent to EGN in the west is Splatterpunk, like EGN its trying to make a political statement about censorship rather than be fetish content, like my Azula story, even if there are people who fetishise stories like Woom, Cows, the Spot, or the Playground.

I've never heard of midori: shoujo tsubaki before, but more atla guro is always welcome.
