💔 My name is Nouran, I am 21 years old and a university student 🎓. Before the war, I lived with my family in a home filled with love, warmth, and safety 🏡🤍.

The war forced us to flee many times, and when we finally tried to return, we found our home reduced to rubble 🏚️. Along with our house, we lost our sense of security and stability.

Today, we struggle to meet our basic needs. My baby sister Nouna 👶🏻, only 6 months old, needs milk, diapers, and clothes, while little Naboula 🍫 dreams of a simple piece of chocolate that I often cannot afford.

one of my best friends was just arrested on federal charges for pro-palestine activism at university of michigan. i am texting her boyfriend for updates, and she is safe right now but she is being held in jail until at least friday, when their intial hearing is, and was separated from the other people she was arrested with.

how can you present these things back-to-back as if they aren't in complete contradiction with each other. also on what planet are little girls' bodies/behaviors/desires less policed than adult women. in fact i would argue they are policed MORE than adult women.

then we get the "no periods or shaving" - sure if you are the ideal white child who gets her period exactly at 13 and was perfectly hairless before then. do you have any idea what it's like to be treated like shit for growing excess hair or getting your period earlier than you're "supposed" to, while at the same time being sexualized by peers and adults because you also started growing breasts before you were "supposed" to? because i fucking do! and children of color who experience/d the same things have/had it way worse than i ever did!
