Teacher: ok, class. We'll be doing group work now.
All the undiagnosed autistic kids: FEAR
Can we consider how many people Toph caused internal bleeding and broken bones?
oh honey they are fully dead
No but Toph was a professional earthbending wrestler with the power to feel the whole human body at once through vibrations with enough accuracy to tell lies. She knows exactly how much pressure the human body can take before important things start breaking or Iāll go buy a hat for the sole purpose of eating it.
oh, sure. she doesnāt care though. sheās 12 and sheās thriving and she loves to murder

The thing that gets me about Azula is the whole purpose of her leaving the fire nation in the first place was to retrieve Zuko and Iroh, which she did, but she also decided to just conquer all of Ba Sing Se while she was already out. Ā Ā

i have been Thinking about a role swap
i was with my motherās family and they were talking to me about my religious studies major. my great aunt asked me what the definition of hell was, and i respondedĀ āwell i suppose it depends on who you ask.ā and nearly all the protestants in the group decided that hell wasĀ āthe absence of godā which i suppose is a fair answer, albeit not a universal one. my cousinās wife was playing with her 3-year-old daughter and she saysĀ āwell mommy says that hell is a mcdonaldās playplaceā asdfghjhgfd
this 3-year-old girl is so fucking hilarious. her mothers have signed her up for a toddler yoga class, and so she has adopted a very unique language. this child also has an imaginary friend named āmomā which is, in her mind, the boss of her two mothers. for example, my cousinās wife explained to me how her daughter got mad at them one time. the little girl situated herself in the corner of her crib, pretended to type on a cell phone and saidĀ āim writing an email to mom right now and telling her how bad you two are. namaste.ā
the familyās Big Theory aboutĀ āMomā is that both my cousin and her wife are referred to asĀ āMommyā andĀ āMama.ā The nicknameĀ āMomā is not used in the house because it would just be confusing. However, when interacting with the world, people tell their daughter that they willĀ ātell her momā if she is doing something wrong. so this child automatically assumes there is this greaterĀ āMomā figure that is responsible for distributing universal justice.Ā

Keyblade Wielder Esmeralda!
Her keyblade is Notre Dame, while the blade itself consists of the spire and the candle stick she fought Phoebus with in the Church! The keychain is the map pendant she gives to Quasimodo.
Check out Kida, too!
Malvolioās Revolve
The joy of Shakespeare is that even if you see the same play dozens of times, each production is its own, unique experience.
Having said that⦠there are certain bits of stage business that often crop up in numerous productions. One of my favorites is Malvolioās revolve.
Just for fun, here are various examples of Malvolioās revolve that have been captured on film. (If the gifs donāt work, check out my original post here.)
Alec Guinness in the 1970 ITV Saturday Night Theatre production Ā does the classic dubious, self-conscious revolve, although Sir Toby and his gang are safely behind a hedge and donāt have to hide.
Nicholas Pennell in this 1986 filmed production at the Stratford Festival of Canada executes a confident and rarely-seen double revolve, forcing his peanut gallery to duck out of sight.
In this filmed version of the Renaissance Theatre Companyās 1988 production, Richard Briers executes a very slow , dubious revolve that is notable for being counter-clockwise. In my experience, most Malvolios revolve in a clockwise direction.
Finally, this Stratford Festival production milks the revolve for all itās worth, with Tom Rooneyās Malvolio turning at just the right speed to miss Sir Andrewās desperate dash across the stage.
Some productions choose to have Malvolio turn the letter around, rather than himself. Others either blow past the line without acknowledging its comedic gag potential, or cut it in its entirety. All are valid choices, but honestly⦠why look a gift gag in the mouth?
ā¦So Iām rewatching FMA:B, and I totally just realized: for the first Scar fight, Mustang wasnāt actually being a fucking idiot. The manās a veteran combat alchemist with PTSD up to his ears; no way heād just forget that rain shuts down his brand of alchemy. He even showed up to that fight with a firearm drawn, because he was prepared to not be using his alchemy. So why the hell would he put the gun down and try to fight a serial killer with alchemy that he should have known he couldnāt use?
Because Mustang wasnāt trying to fight Scar.
Ed being saved at the last second is excellent dramatic tension, but ignore the storytelling stuff and look at the scene from a tactical perspective. Scar can destroy/kill anything he touches. His hand is literally inches away from Edās face, and Ed canāt even get to his feet, let alone defend himself. Scarās really fucking fast, and the backup is standing a good twenty feet back. Which is why everyone stands there and lets him have a little monologue, because this isnāt a showdown with a serial killer; itās a hostage situation. If Scar went for the kill, they wouldnāt be able to stop him. Theyāre not going to talk him down, Edās not going to escape, so the immediate priority is to make Scar move away. Ideally without alerting him to the fact that heās got a hostage at his feet.
So Mustang hands Hawkeye his weapon and steps up as a shiny distraction, trying to get Scar to walk away from the helpless Fullmetal Alchemist and come fuck up the Flame Alchemist instead. Note that Hawkeye doesnāt move until Scarās begun walking forwards; sheās not going to make any sudden moves while the serial killers got a victim in arms reach. But one Edās out of immediate danger, sheās charging in to cover Mustang, and shots get fired.
Also notice how Ed doesnāt react to the situation until Havocās helping Ed sit up? Yeah, that also seems⦠purposeful. When Scarās giving his short monologue, heās literally standing over Ed. Of course Edās going to be silent and stay perfectly still - if he draws Scarās attention, then heāll be killed or used as a hostage. So he just keeps laying there while Scarās standing over him, and doesnāt try to wiggle away or say anything, because it would be a very bad time to be noticed.
Basically itās a good thing that Scar isnāt the type to use human shields, because if he was I really doubt Ed would have made it out of that episode alive.

Honestly sometimes Iām reminded of how good of a character concept Xion is. Clone of the main character who isnāt aware of her status as a clone for half the story, and after finding out about it learns that sheāll have to give up her own existence to save the guy sheās a clone of that she hasnāt even met, and spends months struggling with that knowledge, only to decide she has to do the right thing and willingly walking into her own death, knowing the two people she cares about will forget her.
Like⦠thatās A Lot.
not to mention sheās trans coded as hell. like. clone of a male character who identifies as female? only people who respect her see her as such? literally called āitā by villains? brought back to life by the simple act of being recognized and called by her name? that isnāt subtext thatās just text
