Unassuming in appearance but have a darker side to them, perceptions of them exist in extremes and they can only be either soft and helpless victims or dark and twisted never anything else, fit more traditionally feminine roles and characteristics, targets of sexism and discrimination, most people in their life hurt them, victims of bullying, their abusers are embodiments of toxic masculinity and male entitlement, they are pigeon-holed in to societal roles and demonized when they end up not fitting within them, often are powerless against their situations, damsel-in-distress type characters, everyone around them will end up growing up and leaving them behind, they love a person so much and see them as everything good in the world, the person they love often ends up hurting them, they find solace and sanctuary in a certain place only to realize that it has become a prison for them and symbolizes their trauma and suffering, have deep-seated insecurities and self-hatred, view themselves as worthless, experienced horrors beyond perception which are metaphors for systemic abuse, assured in their sexuality but think their love can never be reciprocated, watch their loves fall for their siblings, have world-altering powers (I know it's not canon for Will yet but it basically is), very selfless, have so much love in their hearts and disregard themselves for the ones they love.

i also hate this one the pair the spares of it is diabolical. but I do have one beloved friend and mutual who likes it and for them I support it. for them ive thought of ways where I could actually tolerate it. if it was ACTUALLY developed as a romance with enough worth as byler or lumax, even as a background ship, then I could like that. like— give me el and dustin hanging out because they’re always left alone. growing closer. feeling something truly akin to friendship that, eventually, starts feeling…different. But he makes her laugh, like really laugh. and she’s actually interested in him. Doesn’t make fun of him and acts questions about his interests. and it’s painful because dustin knows this is mike’s (ex?) girlfriend. this is his BEST FRIEND’S girlfriend. this is his other BEST FRIEND’S sister. el being worried that her desire— the first time she’s felt it— is something wrong. isolating from dustin because she can’t make sense of it. the forbidden aspect of it could be so good.
