AU Roulette is a casual fic-writing challenge encouraging fanfic authors to play around with different types of alternate universe stories, which will be randomly assigned to each participant regardless of the fandom they sign up with. Participants are assigned three AUs from a masterlist using a random number generator. Each author will then have the choice of completing the challenge for one, two, or all three of the AUs. Any fic exceeding a 500-word minimum will be considered a completion, so long as it employs the AU premise. Fics can then be posted at any point during the month of June.

Here is my fic for the @au-roulette challenge! One of my prompts was time travel and I decided to go for a time loop. This fic was fun to write and there will be a second chapter when I have time to get it written😂

He stood there, tall and lean, dressed in the Melbourne uniform of unrelenting black. Even his eyes were hidden behind dark shades, as if the weak winter sunshine struggling through the low clouds was an affront to his senses. Perhaps the whole world was an affront to him, as he swayed, almost imperceptibly, seeking his caffeine fix at their hole-in-the wall cafe.
“Six shots, nothing else,” he ordered. Desperation dripped off him like the morning’s drizzle.
That definitely turned Aziraphale’s head - as if it hadn’t been turned already by this intriguingly handsome red head.
To end a war between their peoples, the Elven noble Kurtsilva (so named, meaning wise and bold counsel hailing from the forest elves) is sent across the volcanic mountains to Azhervel, to marry a Dragonkind Lord, Blainefyre, whom he has never met (his name meaning yellow fire, and the highest rank of his people).
Dragonkind forbids those betrothed in an arranged union to speak before the ceremony. Yet for five days, custom requires that Blaine deliver gifts from his hoard to his husband-to-be by the hands of his servants.
Kurt expected a fortress, final treaty negotiations, and partaking in rituals he had barely learned on his journey here would be required, all while silently hoping that perhaps in time, he could at least endure his husband’s presence. He never expected a half-dragon prince to have those eyes… and to oversee the delivery of the gifts himself.

“Take me as your child’s godfather.” the stranger spoke in a voice that was like a cold wind against one's face. “But, who are you, sir?” Zemo asked again, tired eyes watching the figure move closer to him.
“I am death, who makes everyone equal.” For a moment Helmut was quietly considering the stranger – death – in front of him.
“You are the one. You treat them all the same once their time has come, you shall be my son’s godfather.”
Death smiled, a small private thing, and accepted with a silent nod. “I will make your child rich in joy and happiness. He will be loved by the people and will love them back equally, unconditionally. I will stay by his side, for with a friend like myself he need not fear the end.”
“She is said to be the most powerful being alive, a woman so strong that there is no other that could compete with her – not even the sorcerer supreme himself. Apparently she wasn’t even born, she was forged by her magic. No need for a coven or incantations, she was able to masterfully manipulate chaos magic from the second she came to life."
Wanda took a moment to find her words, hands folded carefully over her lap as she considered what to reveal. “I love how you talk about her.” She finally settled on, “It’s like you know and love her, in a way"
It has been so long now, the creature in the wall has not yet emerged fully, only eyes and mouths and hands with nails and sharp claws. I’ve seen them now, the hands I mean. They are just like my own. Nails bitten down, a nervous tick I’ve had ever since being a child, and they are so perfectly replicated that even the guards and medical staff thought I scratched myself. They don’t know, and I don’t want to tell them anymore.
They will see soon enough, for I have made a plan of escape once the man behind the steel is ready.
Space is dark and unforgiving, but so is the Agency that maintains balance and peace in the universe. Chuuya didn't ask for the powers he received - powers he wasn't born with. And he didn't ask for the creeping corruption they cause, slowly transforming his body into a monster.
For those who receive power by other means, no god knows them, no creature recognizes them. They wander, absent from the sight of any god, unknown. They are called 'nue,' unknown beasts. Without recognition, every time they use their power, they risk warping, changing, and over time, they become an unrecognizable monster, a true nue.
Or worse.
'Graciously' taken in by the Agency, Chuuya's only chance is to find some god, some celestial beast to accept him as its own. If he cannot, the Agency will doom him to exile.
But the things in space are just as dark and unforgiving, and the only one Chuuya has guiding him through this mess is his own worst enemy.
