Our first-of-the-month breakfast date became brunch because we blissfully hurkle-durkled. Verb. Scottish. To linger under the covers of a warm bed long after it's time to get up.

i think often we forget how truly incredible fic is and how amazing it is that we all get this amazing writing handed to us on a genuinely daily basis from people who are willing to use their free time to write all sorts of weird and wonderful and amazing fic about our favourite characters.

we unfortunately do live in a world of overconsumption and instant gratification and i think that’s made for a terrible combination when it comes to how people approach fandom creators. in the same way that you should reblog beautiful gifsets with lovely tags so that the creator of said gifs can be appreciated, it’s v v important to show your appreciation to fic writers. and there’s lots of ways you can do that! reblogging people’s fic posts is fantastic but more than that, please do leave a comment.

as much as fic writers write for the love of the game, we all share that writing because we want to hear what people think of our writing, you know? and comments are truly the best possible way you can do that. they don’t need to be essays! tell people what your favourite line was - or that you enjoyed the fic overall. being nice and well intentioned with your comments means the world - and the more you comment on fics, the more people will want to keep writing and sharing, so we all win. like genuinely.

(and as an additional psa. please don’t leave a comment that’s just you asking for updates or asking for more and nada else because that comes back to the whole, overconsumption and instant gratification of it all.)

it’s not at all scary to leave a comment - fic writers looooooooove comments. giving your fav fic writers comments is so massively encouraging and i promise you it makes them want to write even more.
