Since I'm on the verge of insanity I had to check what this is all about, so I've rewatched the trailer and found the scene that is not included in the movie. Oh boy.

I remembered them being in a car together at the very benginning (when they drive to the lake), so I've rewatched it as well to see if the clothes match. They don't.

their first meeting and the look on Takaoka's face when he watches Fujitani perform. god. love at first sight

when they meet years later and now that Fujitani's ready for a commitment (starting a band) he quite literally doesn't let go of Takaoka. look how he grabs him

the moment Takaoka decides to quit smoking

just another normal thing Takaoka says about Fujitani. he literally says he has the right to take care of him. as if it's some kind of reward.

Takaoka being the one who physically separates Fujitani from everything he loves. and then continues to cry and sleep by his door

when Takaoka straight-up called Saijo a murderer for not taking proper care of Fujitani and letting him go without food and sleep. he tried so hard to keep him safe even if it meant breaking his heart </3

the fact that both the first and the last song on the album were written by Fujitani for Takaoka. including the title song!!!! yeah i would cry hearing it too

But especially Shen Wei's face here in a few moments tells a whole story of pain, loneliness and desperate clinging to the only thread of connection with the world of the living. Such a painfully shining face of a person who thinks that for someone like him, suffering is the only way he is allowed to love. And he is willing to love all the way to complete disintegration. And the confusion of Zhao Yunlan, who only here fully realized the scale of the... problem.
