The Triple-Steep Recovery Blend
A Three-Day Protocol for Healing and Alignment.
By Athan the Wizard
Introduction
This blend was developed through spirit-guided intuition during the recovery period following a car accident. It is designed to support the physical body’s mending process while clearing the mental and energetic shock of trauma. It also serves as an all-around wellness blend, supporting the mind, body, and spirit in maintaining homeostasis.
By using a three-day steeping protocol, the botanical properties are extracted in stages, moving from the delicate volatile oils of the flowers to the deep mineral and bitter compounds of the roots and resins. This systematic approach ensures that the full range of flavors and medicinal properties are extracted.
This blend is mixed prior to use to ensure every ingredient is balanced correctly in each glass. This also serves as a prime chance to pre-charge your tea blend with your intentions. It is recommended to bless the whole blend with an overarching intention that will apply to every glass, and stir further, more specific intentions into each mug. While mixing, spend a moment with each ingredient, charging it and blessing it with its purpose.
Ensure the blend is stored in an airtight container and in a cool, dark, dry space to maximize the longevity of your tea. Only open the container when using it to preserve the scent and flavor. The flavor of this blend can be quite intense due to the bitter alkaloids, as well as the astringent and sharp flavors, so it is recommended to add your preferred honey/sugar to taste. Honey is ideal, especially if it is locally harvested, as the flavor pairs better, but turbinado sugar also works well. Sweetener can be added directly to the vessel while brewing, but it is recommended to sweeten each glass individually as the flavor will change somewhat between each glass.

Steeping Instructions
Place one generous handful of the loose herbal blend into your vessel (2-liter capacity). This same handful of botanicals will be used in each steep, so leave the vessel covered in the refrigerator overnight between pots.
Day One: The Aromatic Infusion
Add 2 liters of fresh water and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and allow the tea to steep for 5 to 7 minutes before serving.
Keep the vessel closed; the remaining infusion will continue to steep off the heat, deepening in character throughout the day.
Day Two: The Cold Extraction
Refill the vessel containing the original herbs with 2 liters of fresh water and bring to a boil.
Immediately remove from heat and refrigerate overnight. Drink the infusion cold throughout the second day.
Day Three: The Simmered Decoction
Refill the vessel with the final 2 liters of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to maintain a very low simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
Discard the exhausted botanicals and cleanse the kettle thoroughly to close the cycle.
Considerations & Medical Contraindications
While this blend is designed to facilitate healing and homeostasis, the potency of these botanicals—particularly when subjected to the deep extraction of a three-day protocol—requires discernment. Nature heals, but she also demands respect. Please review the following safety considerations carefully.
Pregnancy and Nursing
Strictly Contraindicated.
This blend contains Mugwort, Wormwood, Angelica, Cedar, and Hyssop, containing similar ketones to those found in Pennyroyal. These herbs act as emmenagogues (stimulating uterine blood flow) and can induce menstruation or contractions. Additionally, the thujone content in Wormwood and Mugwort is neurotoxic to developing fetuses and infants. Do not consume this blend if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Cardiovascular & Hypertensive Conditions
Proceed with Caution.
Licorice Root: Contains glycyrrhizin, which can cause significant potassium depletion and elevate blood pressure. Individuals with hypertension, kidney disease, or those taking corticosteroids or digoxin should avoid high doses of Licorice.
Hawthorne: While a heart tonic, it can potentiate the effects of prescription cardiac medications (such as beta-blockers and digitalis).
Blood Disorders & Surgery
Angelica and Mugwort have mild anticoagulant (blood-thinning) properties. If you are currently taking blood thinners (e.g., Warfarin, Heparin), have a clotting disorder, or are scheduled for surgery in the next two weeks, consult a physician before consumption.
Neurological Sensitivities
Wormwood, Mugwort, and Cedar contain thujone, a compound that stimulates the nervous system. In high concentrations (particularly in the Day Three decoction), this may lower the seizure threshold. Individuals with epilepsy or seizure disorders should avoid this blend.
Allergies (The Asteraceae Family)
A significant portion of this blend (Chamomile, Calendula, Cornflower, Mugwort, Wormwood) belongs to the Asteraceae (daisy/ragweed) family. Individuals with severe ragweed allergies may experience reactions ranging from oral itching to respiratory distress.
Protocol-Specific Warning: The Third Day
The Day Three instructions call for a simmered decoction. This method extracts the heavy minerals, tannins, and bitter alkaloids that are not released during the lighter steeps of Days One and Two.
Result: The tea will be significantly more bitter and potent on the final day.
Advisory: If you have a sensitive stomach or are prone to acid reflux (due to the Peppermint and bitter compounds), consume the Day Three cup with food, or dilute it with water if the flavor is too intense.
Closing Statements
While blend was born of a specific intention, just as with all magick, it can easily be repurposed to fit your own needs based off of what the ingredients do and your own interpretations. If you give this recipe a try, I'd love to hear your thoughts down below and hear what intentions you're stirring into it. Blessed be and happy sipping acolytes 💚💚💚.
