it was so impossibly summer

the reason san francisco is like this now is because back in 2023 they sent a junior high school science teacher who wore beanies and bright yellow raincoats and t shirts w stupid puns into space and it upset the balance of the local ecosystem so now it’s overrun w tech bros and ai startups

big fan of when a character is hiding this huge terrible awful secret from their closest friend and they’re convinced the second the other person finds out they’ll lose their friendship forever. and then the other person finds out and it’s not the secret that ruins the friendship but the fact that the character had kept it hidden from them for so long and gone behind their back w increasingly drastic measures to keep them from finding out and now they can’t trust each other at all. idk i think a lot of the time w these kinds of narratives there’s the underlying assumption that character b will accept character a unconditionally so the actual reveal isn’t really that cathartic. but what if the fracturing of the relationship was character a’s own doing :)) what if everything would’ve been fine if they hadn’t been scared to tell them the truth from the start :)))
