Went to my first ever pub trivia night and it seems I have been operating on a deep misconception of what is and is not fundamental common knowledge
I thought there was gonna be teams but there wasn’t and also you got extra points for answering fastest if you were correct and the quiz lady would announce who got the bonus each round so for 55 questions straight from start to finish it was a room of like 40 people and 25ish players with the announcer going “leading the score is… still Tea” while I slowly tried to disappear under the table
Also to be clear I’m not sharing this with intent to be a show-off or to talk myself up but rather to say, as an individual raised with the recurrent refrain of “you’re an ignorant retard, and an insufferable know-it all, pride is a sin, you think you know everything but you don’t and you’re not special”, this experience of walking into a public knowledge competition thinking “I’m definitely going to be in the bottom ten, I wonder who’s actually gonna win” and then coming out of it in first place with a dozen people staring at me like I’m Rain Man incited some truly bizarre emotions that I think I’m going to have to sit down and unpack
First prize was some nice headphones btw
this made us really happy - what was your favourite question? like the one that made you want to wriggle with joy for knowing the answer to?
