William Owen Herondale actually wrote a book about demon pox and Matthew Fairchild has read it
â if you donât get some sleep soon, youâll make yourself sick. â ((To Will from Notstainedglass))
Surrounded by books and papers, fingers stained with ink, Will barely looked up. â âM busy,â he mumbled, paging through one of his journals and leaving smudges on the edges of the pages.
Jem sighed, and walked over, pulling the book away. âWill.â He said to him. âLook at me.â
Will grabbed after the journal once, then sighed, and looked up at his parabatai with bloodshot eyes. âWhat?â
âYouâre not too must to sleep.â He said firmly. âItâs nearly midnight, Will. You need rest.â
âOnly midnight?â Will blinked. âThought it was later than that.â He reached for another journal and began flipping through it. âIâll rest when Iâm finished with this.â
âNo, youâll rest now.â Jem said firmly. âYouâre no good to the Institute half-asleep.â He added, shaking his head. âGet some rest. These will be waiting for you in the morning.â
âIâm not half asleep,â Will muttered. He pulled his stele from where it had been keeping his place in an ancient looking book. âRaziel is helping keep me awake.â
âWilliam.â He frowned more, shaking his head. âPlease. If a ravener starts attacking mundanes in the morning, Iâd like my parabatai to be functional.â
"I'm always functional," Will said, grinning lopsidedly.

iâm kind of annoyed at the communities belief that dropping threads or liking a starter call and not responded is a terrible thing. like that belief of âoh they didnât reply to that one starter i wrote one time theyâll never reply to anything why should i even botherâ
i donât support that at all.
so basically, if you donât mind that your partner may drop threads or not reply/maybe forget to reply to a starter, please reblog this? its so unhealthy for someone like myself who gets afraid to drop threads on the chance that my partners may think i donât want to write with them, or worse BECAUSE i dropped it they wonât want to write with me.
its a bad cycle to end up hoarding drafts because youâre afraid theyâll be mad at you for dropping it. so if you donât mind at all and will still continue to want to write with them, reblog this and let your followers know that you are okay with them dropping threads, and you wonât hold it against them.

character portraits: the infernal trio Â
âwhich one of you is older?â âjem,â said will , and âi am,â said jem, at the same time. they laughed in unison as well, and will added, âonly by three months, though.â âi knew youâd feel compelled to point that out,â said jem with a grin. tessa looked from one of them to the other. there could not be two boys who looked more different, or who had more different dispositions. and yet.

[Closed] | Sleeping Beauty
Anders wondered if this was just his personality or if heâd trotted out his shitty attitude special for him. âDepends on what scale youâre talking about, really. This is⌠Ferelden, I think.â he squinted around. âFrostback Mountains. Could be close to Orlais, but it smells distinctly like dog so itâs probably Ferelden.â he mused. âOn a smaller scale, weâre fairly close to the village of Haven. Used to be a religious pilgrimage stop but seems like itâs more popular these days.â he added.
âOn a larger scale, though, which I think weâre operating on⌠this is Thedas.â he said gently. âI could not say how but Iâm beginning to think that you arenât from Thedas at all, are you?â he asked. âI say this for a few reasons but⌠I have no idea what an angel is and you seem pretty offended that Iâve called them magic. Some might argue that enchanting is not really magic but those people are idiots.â he muttered. An old argument heâd had with people at Kinloch.Â
âSo my theory then becomes⌠are you from the Fade? Is angel another word for spirit or demon?âÂ
Will stared at Anders blankly, eyebrows drawing together the more he spoke.
âI can honestly say Iâve never heard of any of the places youâve just listed off,â he said flatly, crossing his arms over his chest and turned away, taking a few steps in that direction, taking in the scenery. It looked familiar, but -- wrong. The trees looked off, the grass the wrong shade of green. âThe Angel is the reason my people exist,â he said after a moment. âHe is neither a spirit nor a demon, which is, frankly, a quite offensive suggestion,â Will added, turning back to Anders.

What's your beef with public libraries?
Theyâre expensive and useless. Imagine if we took all the money we used on public libraries and instead created public wifi, or literally anything else besides a library?
This is the dumbest fucking thing Iâve ever heard. Libraries have free wifi, and also computers, books, magazines, comfortable seating areas, public washrooms, shelter from the elements, interlibrary loan programs for those rare items that might be hard to find either online or off, special collections of rare and out of print material that may be required by historical researchers such as myself and which may have never been digitized, local records archives, lecture series and classes, meeting rooms for rent, and sometimes social workers on hand in areas that need them. Libraries are up there with hospitals in the realm of essential public services that make life livable and society great.
Shield - Notstainedglass protecting Will
It was a calm evening in London; even the rolling fog was at bay, the stars making a faint appearance in the sky above them. Will and his parabatai were enjoying a rare quiet moment, strolling leisurely along the streets. Armed to the teeth, naturally, but in civilian clothes, their gear remaining at the Institute.Â
The demon came out of nowhere, ugly limbs reaching for them. The world slowed down, but Will barely registered the thing was there before Jem had thrown himself in between the two of them, brandishing his staff. Will reached for the seraph blade tucked into his clothing, but he didnât even have time to bring it to life before burning ichor sprayed over the both of them. Willâs stance relaxed as they watched the demon crumple into nothingness, but then his gaze was trained on Jem.
âJames,â Will began, frowning. âI â thank you. Stupid thing came out of nowhere,â he muttered, brushing ichor off his sleeve with a look of distaste, disguising the stab of guilt he felt at the fact that heâd been so oblivious.Â
He glanced back up at his parabatai. âAre you injured?â
âWell, you knew. And Sophie.â He countered, shrugging and crossing his legs. âI didnât just vanish into the night.â He added with another quiet chuckle - though it turned into a cough almost instantly.
Concern flashed across Willâs face. âDo you need your medicine?â
âIâll be alright.â He replied, waving off the concern. âWe should probably go back, though⌠I should let Charlotte know Iâm not missing.â He said, smiling a little and getting to his feet.
"Before she calls the Clave for a search party?" Will joked, standing as well and linking his arm with Jem's, a small smile quirking his lips.

âJames,â Will began, frowning. âI â thank you. Stupid thing came out of nowhere,â he muttered, brushing ichor off his sleeve with a look of distaste, disguising the stab of guilt he felt at the fact that heâd been so oblivious.Â
He glanced back up at his parabatai. âAre you injured?â
âOut. I need some air.â Was all Jem said in reply before walking out of the room, leaving Will there. He needed to clear his head, try and get his thoughts organized. It was quiet, and he had a blade with him just in case - he headed for Blackfriars Bridge, letting the cool air chill him as he walked.
Will made his way back to his room, sitting on the edge of the bed and letting the room spin around him for a few minutes. Then he sent a fire message to Magnus Bane, containing one single word: Bastard. Once that was done, true to his impulse, he headed to the training room and worked with his throwing knives until his body caught up with him and his legs gave out, leaving him unconscious on the training room floor. He woke to Sophieâs concerned face above him, a glass of water gripped tightly in her hand. He pushed himself to a sitting position, ignoring her offer of water, instead inquiring after his parabatai.
âHas Jem returned from his walk?â
âNo.â She replied shaking her head. She set the water down, sighing and getting to her feet. âIâll bring you up something to eat.â She said, seeming very much eager to get out of his presence without Jemâs to keep her there.
âLeave it in my room, would you?â Will called after her, and picked himself up off the floor. Thankfully his head had slowed its pounding by now, but a glance out the window told him the sun was rising. He swore, and headed out of the Institute, intent on tracking down his parabatai, terrified he was taking a page out of Willâs book.
Jem hadnât gone far from the bridge. He was sitting in a nearby park, looking around. Heâd glamours himself so the mundanes wouldnât see or bother him, and simply watched the people as they went by. Heâd managed to calm down and cool off somewhat, but the anger was still there. He forced himself to take a deep breath, closing his eyes to collect himself, then opened them again to resume people watching.
Will went to Blackfriar Bridge first, hoping to find Jem staring out over the water as he often had, but no luck. It was then that Will began to search nearby parks, and finally found Jem sitting motionless on a bench in the last park he checked. When his parabatai opened his eyes, Will was standing across the pathway.
âJames,â he said, training a steady gaze on him. He could see by the way he held himself, the tension in his spine and shoulders, that Jem was still harboring anger towards Will. He spoke anyways.
Jem blinked, and for a moment couldnât help wondering if heâd dozed off and was dreaming. But no, Will was actually there. He sighed quietly, resting his hands in his lap.
âYou should be resting.â He said quietly, the concern still there despite his anger.
âI did,â Will said. The details of where, exactly, he kept to himself. âSophie woke me. She said you hadnât returned. I was worried.â
The young man watched him as he spoke, and couldnât help a weak chuckle. âI have no idea what thatâs like.â He said, shaking his head. âNot knowing where your parabatai is, or if theyâre alright.â
âYouâre the levelheaded one. Disappearing in the night is unusual behavior. I disappear at four in the morning, no one bats an eye. Jem disappearing? Charlotte is calling an emergency Clave meeting to start a search party,â Will joked, a familiar glint of amusement in his tired blue eyes as he moved to take a seat beside his parabatai.
Jem gave another weak smile, and sighed quietly. âWell I should be honpured, then.â He said to him. âThe Clave?â He added, chuckling.
âIf she knew you were missing, I imagine so, yes.â
âI went for a walk, Iâm not missing.â He replied, rolling his eyes and shaking his head.
"That depends on how many people know you went for a walk," Will pointed out with a smirk.
âOne must always be careful of books,â said Tessa, âand what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.â Cassandra Clare, The Infernal Devices
