In your opinion, what’s the best kind of gift? And do you give those kinds of gifts? Give us an example, something your bird is gifting to another skeleton!

The best kind of gift is a gift that has a lot of thought behind it, preferably one that is homemade or unique in some way. Because that shows the giftee that the gifter cares about them and really wanted the gift to be special. 

Could you imagine being married? Do you dream about your wedding? Who of the Birds could you most see yourself getting married to?

Of course Asher can see himself getting married. He’s a hopeless romantic. Dreaming isn’t exactly the word for it, but he’s definitely thought about it more than once. Not in major detail but he figures it’ll happen when it happens. 

Could you imagine having a child? Now or in the future? Why or why not? With whom?

Asher is definitely not looking for a child right now. He doesn’t have nearly any of his life together enough to support a child and give them the things that they need. He likes kids, why else would he be studying children’s literature? He would totally babysit and be the cool babysitter if someone asked, but a child is not in the picture for him right now at all. Maybe in the future, if he finds the right person.

Favorite kind of music? Favorite song? Holiday songs?

Asher’s favorite kind of music is techno/ rap/ light rap. He’s not sure how to describe it. He doesn’t like the heavy rap, but something about the way that certain artists tie together words is absolutely astounding and makes him so jealous. It’s poetry. Poetry with music. And yeah, it might be cliche but it doesn’t matter.

His favorite song changes so much, but currently his favorite song is ‘Sunflower’ from Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. He can’t stop listening to it and it makes him very happy.

Favorite food? Favorite Holiday snacks?

Asher’s favorite food is pomegranates. He likes the process of eating them, in addition to the taste. He considers it jokingly a “special talent” of his that he can pick a pomegranate clean and leave no arils inside the fruit.

When’s the last time you were in love? Could you imagine falling in love again in the close future? What would the other person need to be to suit your romantic tastes and needs?

Asher tries to be nice all the time, even when people aren’t watching. His grandmother always taught him that it was always a measure of someone’s character to look at what they do when they think no one is watching. Probably the nicest thing he’s ever done is when he was a kid. His teacher went on maternity leave, and she was replaced with a teacher who no one else in his class liked. One day, after a particularly unruly day, Asher went home and pulled a small candle out of a closet. He wrapped a ribbon around it, and wrote the teacher a nice note. The next day he left it on her desk at the end of the day. She never found out it was him.

Asher has been finished with Christmas shopping since the end of November, practically. On top of his list he compiled over the year, he absolutely takes advantage of, not Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but Small Business Saturday. Small Businesses, thrift shops, and homemade gifts are his specialty. 

He loves going shopping with friends, but he needs to make sure that he doesn’t need to buy gifts for the friends he is shopping with! He gets gifts for pretty much everyone he knows. Even if it’s just a little stick of candy or packet of hot chocolate. 

Asher doesn’t know how to play any instruments beyond the recorder and other little instruments that elementary schools teach students how to play. He likes to fiddle with instruments, however, if there are instruments lying around. He could probably fake his way through a piano or guitar improvisation, and maybe henpeck a simple song on the piano, but that’s all.

Asher loves Christmas. He wouldn’t say it’s his favorite holiday, but he never passes up an opportunity to show his family and friends how much he loves and appreciates them. Every year he looks forward to getting together with his family Christmas Eve. His favorite part, besides seeing everyone’s faces light up when he gives them their gifts, is at midnight he and all his cousins and uncles run outside and run around in the snow, before running back inside for hot chocolate and Christmas Cookies.
