lance (who did not have a crush on clay) randomly decided clay had a crush on him (he did not) and was inevitably rejected during the "i will allow you to ask me out" even and THEN started screaming I LOVE YOU SUPER KNIGHT!!!! and similar-type sentiments Into the ocean.

and THEN lance developed a crush on clay for real. and later vice versa.

clay later decided to confess which was interrupted by jestro!

lance inevitably chose clay over jestro, and they were sweethearts until they got married just two days ago (after like 3 attempts to beat the proposal minigame)

beast master developed a crush on clay and like within a day or two decided to confess. and got rejected because clay was dating lance. this was when i decided to introduce brick (calupo's lava monster doppelganger of clay oc) to see what would happen - unfortunately, nothing interesting... because beast master ended up falling in love with miriam at first sight! ... and then shortly after miriam fell in love with him immediately afterwards. insane crackship

the minute i introduced magmar into the enclosure, the literal first thing he did was develop a crush on jestro. but then immediately afterwards jestro developed a crush on lavaria. magmar immediately asked to move in with jestro. lavaria originally had a crush on macy, but she eventually lost interest when macy never noticed her and ended up reciprocating jestro's crush on her. so magmar confessed twice and was rejected both times and did not get over jestro until the second time. (during the second time he was interrupted by pola and sovnya, but he rejected all three of them because hes dating lavaria) jestro and lavaria have both asked me to help them propose to the other but even though i really like them i dont like them ENOUGH to go through the proposal minigame so it's probably not happening any time soon.

whiparella had a crush on aaron while aaron had a crush on roger van nelsing - until they had a conversation so boring that aaron decided right then and there he no longer had a crush on him.

at the same time, targie developed a crush on aaron and was the one who had the courage to confess first - but aaron inevitably turned her down to confess to whiparella. who by the way got married just last night (after another like 2 or 3 failed proposal attempts. im bad at the minigame alright)

(in the period of time between aaron losing interest in roger before he developed a crush on whiparella, archie decided aaron must have a crush on him but when i told him to ask aaron out archie scoffed and said his feelings were only platonic. he was going to develop a crush on aaron after he'd already gotten with whiparella but he squandered the chance i gave him so #noarrowshippingforhim)

meanwhile, targie has her own army of suitors consisting of archie, roger, shia, and lettie. archie, roger, and lettie (but NOT shia) all confessed to her and she turned them all down. none of them got over targie after that. but at the same time, she's almost developed a crush on lance (already dating her twin brother at this point btw) like three times :sob:

im not that interested in letting that happen in-game even if exploring the two having a thing in my concepts where she exists would be kind of interesting. meanwhile shia hasn't confessed yet so he might have a chance. and on the opposite end - joustina has a crush on shia, while the blok has a crush on joustina.... and sovnya has a crush on the blok. she also moved in with him. they're kind of cute together so i'm rooting for her. but we'll see how it plays out...

axl and chef eclair got together with zero drama which is perfect for them <3 the only issues i had was struggling with their proposal minigame like 3 times until i got fed up and asked my sister to come visit me to beat the minigame for me. just the other day they had a baby that semi-coincidentally came out looking exactly like axlina so i decided to just let her be axlina (named aklyssa in-game bc thats what i plan on calling her in my rewrite stuff)

before miriam fell in love with beast master, she had a crush on merlok... who had a crush on monstrox. and despite my best attempts to push monstrox to develop a crush on miriam for the love triangle drama of it all, only ever stayed just friends with miriam. later he ended up falling in love with merlok without my interference. he almost developed a crush on clay but i shut that one down IMMEDIATELY, even though it was really. really funny.

suffice to say, merlok and monstrox got married (first fully successful attempt at the proposal minigame myself) and ended up having a baby. originally i was gonna let the baby stay more or less the way he came out but he was scary and ugly even after a makeover so i turned it into The Plant Baby. so mangloire is real now.

wanda and griffiths also got married. not much excitement with them. even when i failed the proposal minigame they proposed successfully. but both clay and targie were at the wedding, which was cute :3

wizards are not canonically elves. idk why ive seen people saying they're canonically elves, when they're never mentioned to be and monstrox was explicitly human. even if there is a genetic difference between wizards and non-wizards, its not a difference of species or race. while i do think it'd be reasonable to make merlok and wanda something distinct from human because they are implied to be outliers and merlok is named in reference to a figure who is often depicted as the offspring of a human woman and a demon father, it wouldn't inherently apply to all other wizards.

ava and jestro are the only two characters who i think should be actively learning about and purposefully using magic after the series ended. clay's magic should be at best is incidental but understated. the extent of magic i think clay should use his magic for is to make his armor suddenly shinier and more buffed out than it had ever been during the rest of the series.

i think given the negative racially charged history of how orcs are used in fiction i think its best we put down axl being an orc in early concept art and leave it there especially in the context of the fact his mom has a hairpiece that in series is explicitly referred to as being dreadlocks. it has implications and everyones gotta be more conscious of those implications. i do think making him mixed orc for dnd aus is fun, but i dont think it should be canon to the actual source material. the fact he is described as being descended from dwarves in one of the books is ... fine, in comparison, but imho unnecessary and not interesting enough to justify. i don't really think it adds anything.

the idea that king halbert treats jestro like a son is not meaningfully substantiated by the series and is wishful thinking at best. i don't think jestro and macy's friendship is explored or even existent enough in the series for "jestro sees macy as a big sister" to feel true.

the confirmation that knighton ISN'T one of the 15 realms in ninjago is good, actually. it's better if the two shows are kept separate. i don't think connecting the two shows would benefit either of them narratively or in terms of world building.

^ though i am amenable to the idea that ninjago and all the 15 realms are different works of fiction that crossover with each other in nexo knights canon. ninjago is like tmnt to the knights. chima is like usagi yojimbo to the knights.

claytro is more narratively interesting if portrayed as parallel to merlok and monstrox's relationship as former best friends/lovers. i don't like claytro as a romantic relationship but it would be so interesting if the plot beats of the first season followed and paralleled merlok and monstrox's falling out a century ago. claytro should only be canon if merstrox is canon i twote what i twote
