Personal custom chapter - The Freeborn
KINGDOM CAME Number of Players: 3-6 Time: 90 minutes++ Ages: 10+ Mechanics: Character-driven, resource management game of combat and conquest. Game Synopsis Choose a character, raise an army, build an empire, and crush any who dare raise their banners against you. But beware the ancient ones that have returned to bring the world of man and beast to ruin. The Game The old empire lies broken, and it's now time for you to rebuild it, or replace it. Six warlords from six cultures are available to choose from, each with their own specific skills and abilities. Subjugate cities and control settlements to gain resources for your growing army. But mortal enemies are not your only concern. From beyond the Mirror Sea, an ancient foe only spoken of in fairy tales have returned. The Giants bow to no man, fear no beast, and leave nothing in their path alive. The Process I've been working on this game ever since I was laid off a while back. When putting together my portfolio, I realized I didn't have anything that I could call my own. So I decided to work on this. It's now reached a point that I might be ready to publish it (I'm thinking crowd-funding, but we'll see). This is my first board game attempt and Settlers of Catan served as a base point of my design. I developed it further, utilizing characters, skills, items, and cards to try and make it stand on its own. The result so far (thankfully) is a game unique enough that my play-testers don't see it as a copy of any one game. I'm play-testing it and I feel that it's in the final stages of refinement (resource costs and balancing issues). One of my biggest goals aside form the gameplay is to also create a game that is easy to play, but hard to win. A player might have the most victory points at the last stretch of the game only to have another player crush him and his army, or the giants simply steam-roll through everything. Therefore strategy and politics is crucial to get (and stay) ahead. Moving Forward I plan to post more of the game's development. Being a first-timer, any and all criticisms and critiques are welcome. I also plan on getting the balancing right so I can post an updated rulebook, and even a pdf so any who are interested my print and (test)play. I’ll also be setting up a one-stop site for all relevant info. Regards!
Miss playing this game back when it was all spritey and pretty

Some updated designs of superheroes I made when I was a kid. From left: Throttle (able to absorb kinetic energy and expel it in any way he chooses, which happens to be super-speed), Mime (able to control light photons to create ‘mirages’ to fool friend and foe alike), Monsoon (mastery of water molecules, can turn a gentle spring shower into a storm of eviscerating razors), Trounce (can exploit the weight and density of any object she touches including the human body, from turning her skin as hard as diamond to making an entire skyscraper as light as a feather), and Foresight (able to see all probabilities in the immediate future and 'choose' an outcome).
Book 2 of Katherine Arden’s Winternight Trilogy. A worthy successor, the ‘’Empire Strikes Back’’ to her first novel.Â
By Fredrik Backman, who is fast becoming my new favorite author. I read A Man Called Ove prior to this, and it's amazing how he can go from tragically funny to heartbreakingly sombre. Not many authors can achieve two separate voice styles in their works.
A personal project from way back in college. A carnival where its performers unwittingly usher human souls down to Hell.
From left: Sebastienne (Beast Tamer), Alexei and Viktor (Tightrope), Ms. Goodachre (Junior Consultant employed by the Devil), Archibald Wyche (Ringmaster), Hanzo (Escapist), Teagan (Contortionist), Martell (Sword Swallower / Main Character).
