Assuming I understand the novel timing properly, Tin is ~13-14 in Breath, the TulHin centric novel. Tul is 21 in the book, and it’s set in that timeframe where still Tin believes his brother has his best interests.

While Tin’s abroad at school, he dates a white girl, records himself having sex with her, and messages the recording to Tul.

The white girl part is important because Tul is biracial and their shared grandmother abused Tul because he’s only half Thai. So Tul. Uh. Shows their paralyzed grandmother the recording and accidentally causes her to have a seizure.
