RTD talked big talk about a soft reboot, but if the show ever needed a soft reboot it’s actually now that we’re going to go few years without anything, and presumably (eventually) come back with a new showrunner

And to be clear, these are all unforced errors on his part. Nobody forced RTD to bring Sutekh and the Rani back. Nobody forced him to make Ncuti Gatwa regenerate into Billie Piper. Nobody forced him to make a Eurovision episode that demonises Palestinians. This is all on him. And if I seem angry about this, it’s because I AM fucking angry about this. My TV licence fee paid for his glorified fanfiction, and now the show is deader than its ever been. God help whoever the next showrunner is because they’re going to have to wade through so much crap to make something even semi-watchable in the future. In fact I’m willing to bet no one will even want to. Rumour has it no actor is interested in playing the Doctor because the role has become something of a poisoned chalice over the years. I reckon the same is true for writing the show as well. Who in their right mind would want to be in charge of this embarrassing omnishambles? It would be like trying to captain the Titanic after it had hit the iceberg. Forget it. Abandon ship. No one’s going to want to touch this shit with a ten foot pole.

RTD has confirmed on Instagram that there was never a script or proper plan for the Christmas special

The show is going out to competitive tender.

For anyone who is confused as to what 'competitive tender' means:

the best case scenario here is that the BBC find a new contractor who can make an acceptable version of Doctor Who for less money and in a few years time we get a whole new version of the show with a new Doctor etc.
