i hear it's parked up there for tax purposes

aloysia and her younger sister laudine were the heiresses to the duchy of systres. aloysia's father arranged a political marriage to an untitled but wealthy family on gonfalon bay, the geonettes. the night after her wedding, when faced with consummating a marriage with a man she neither knew nor liked, aloysia abandoned her life and family and took the next ship out of gonfalon bay. she landed first in firsthold, and then to anvil, and then finally made her way to the imperial city, where she began working for ogier georick at the main ingredient.

but her husband edouard felt that the title he had rightfully earned had been stolen from him, as the duke of systres was far more prepared to let it pass to his daughter laudine than a perfect stranger. over the course of more than a year he tracked down aloysia, intent on dragging her back home. when he assaulted her after hours at her place of work, she fought back and accidentally mortally wounded him. to the imperial authorities, this was at best a lover's quarrel and at worst a case of domestic abuse. either way, she was imprisoned and set to be executed. the plot of oblivion goes here.

she fell in love with martin over the course The Plot, they fuck so much, she realizes she's pregnant after she's already depression spiraling after he dies. she retires back to anvil and manages to hold her sanity together for ~a year before she cracks. she leaves all her property, all her wealth, everything to her six-month-old son trystan, leaves him in the care of a hired maid, and writes to her sister laudine to please take care of him. and then she goes and mantles the daedric prince of madness and is never seen in tamriel again.

now LAUDINE. in the meantime. their father dies and she takes over as duchess of systres. she marries one of her father's knights, celevial, and they have a son together (etienne). laudine loves her sister and as soon as she gets word from aloysia she takes literally the fastest ship her family has ever built immediately to get to anvil to try and see her. no luck ofc. but she takes trystan back with her and raises her 100% as her own son, she loves him very much, trystan and etienne are raised as brothers.

trystan grows up hearing stories about his mother, though, and is slightly frustrated that laudine has no idea where she is, what happened to her, or who his father is. he spent a few years in summerset with etienne before the complete takeover of the thalmor courting lady amalien of skywatch. amalien is 1) bored and 2) smart and she suggests they run away together. he, amalien, etienne, and his ship's captain osanna pendleton ended up in anvil again, whereupon he was recognized by his surname and given ownership of benirus manor. the contents of his mother's home and the notoriety she still has in cyrodiil sets him on the path to tracking her down. he reaches a dead end in the imperial city and his group settles there for a bit, with cyrodiil having grown so unsafe.

truly, it's by sheogorath's will that he finds anything out, and he doesn't really get any straight answers from the prince of madness. whatever sliver of aloysia still exists within sheogorath draws his attention to the imperial city, enraged by the fracturing of the empire that martin died to save. storms rage over the city, and when she senses trystan there, he pulled him into the shivering isles.

amalien has just had a baby at this point, of course. and with the baby's father gone -- dead or mad -- she just wants to go home. osanna and etienne take her back to skywatch and return to gonfalon bay together to deliver the news that trystan is gone.

trystan, meanwhile, manages to actually talk to his mother in between episodes. he doesn't really get many answers, but one thing no version of aloysia will do is fail to talk about martin. so he does get that piece of truth. he also manages to convince sheogorath to let him leave. two years have passed. amalien has joined the thalmor to avoid being purged with the rest of the nobility. trystan sells benirus manor to pay for passage back home.

passage of time, yadda yadda. trystan settles down with his captain, osanna, and they have their daughter margaux. etienne dies to a chimera attack. aunt laudine dies a few years later. trystan inherits the duchy.

their daughter margaux marries gawayne veloise, though they never have children. after margaux dies in her mid sixties, gawayne moves his long-time mistress sylvie rielle into castle navire (though never marries her, unwilling to share the duchy). their son jascien is born the following year, and duchy continues passing down his line.

on the OTHER side: amalien and trystan's daughter tilinarie is raised under the boot of the thalmor, unhappily. she enters into the mage's guild as a young woman where she develops an infatuation with the steward of skywatch's mage's guild, lelorion, who is an outspoken critic of the thalmor. when he is forced to leave aldmeri lands, tilinarie eagerly accompanies him and they settle in sentinel, marry, and start a family. lelorion and tilinarie are both killed in the night of green fire.

their daughter sonarie, however, was found by the commander of the purge in sentinel, lady anirione of shimmerene. she was a beautiful, well-bred altmer child, and so lady anirione returned to shimmerene with her. sonarie took much better to life under the thalmor, and amalien never knew she'd survived.

sonarie married the lucarian -- head of the cultural/moral ministry -- of shimmerene, naramin. despite her questionable parentage -- lady anirione never once pretended that she was her biological child -- her magical talent and service to the thalmor elevated her status. she had two children: palomir and cirion.

palomir was named sunarrow after taking part in the campaign to bring the moons back to elsweyr. he becomes part of the occupying force in pelletine in elsweyr, where he remains until the outbreak of the great war. during his time in elsweyr, he meets and marries dazaiq-jo, a physician in rimmen, and is all but exiled from his family for it. palomir dies in the early days of the great war. his father, naramin, dies in the imperial city during the battle of the red ring.

cirion, the younger brother, inherits his father's position as lucarian at home in shimmerene. prior to the great war, the cultural ministry proposed a series of arranged marriages between altmer and the residents of the dominion's client states, particularly the bosmer, many of whom felt disregarded or oppressed under the dominion. cirion was among those who sat in the perfect middle ground of being high-ranking enough that it wouldn't be perceived as an insult, but with questionable ancestry that made him no great loss to the purity of the race. he was married to floriel, orrocant of woodhearth -- a bard.

he loved floriel dearly. they were married for only a year before their son, uldwin, was born.

after their loss at the battle of red ring, the state of the home front soured considerably. the cultural ministry reversed course on this initiative. clearly it had weakened the race. cirion was informed of this reversal and found that his wife and son had been purged the same day.

in an effort to begin shoring up the altmer population after the loss of so many during the war, all of the spouses of the purged bosmer were paired up, broadly with only a nod towards peer ancestries and with no regard to personality. cirion was told he would be marrying urcelia of cloudrest, who had had no children with her husband, and to please get on that.

cirion and urcelia absolutely despised each other. urcelia, in fact, had no interest in men period, and resented being married to one, and otherwise found cirion an absolute oaf. they had sex twice and urcelia returned to cloudrest when she learned she was pregnant. she sent word via courier that their daughter elanere had been born some nine months later.

elanere spent the first few years of her life in cloudrest. when urcelia and her commander/lover elenwen were sent to established diplomatic relationships with skyrim, elanere was sent to live with her father.

cirion enjoyed fatherhood and he adored elanere. he worried for her, too. a gentle musician, a poet, a gardener -- a sensitive girl with a strong sense of justice. where he failed to convince her of the thalmor's teachings, he hoped he at least convinced her to keep her opinions to herself.

years later, as a student at shimmerene's mage's college, she and a gaggle of her classmates conspired to take direct action against the thalmor by setting fire to shimmerene's shipyard. they were caught, of course, and imprisoned, and elanere was tortured for more than two weeks before cirion was able to pull every string he had to get in to see her. he managed to convince her to indict her classmates in exchange for the ministry allowing her to live and be reeducated.

she spent a few more weeks in recovery at her father's home while he arranged for the best "reeducation" he could: to be sent to skyrim with her mother. and then she got caught crossing the border and walked right into that ambush, same as us and that thief over there.
