Rewatching a lot during this lockdown, thought I would take a walk down an old forgotten memory, Frisky Dingo. Donât know how many of you are familiar with this one. FD is basically a precursor of what would become the Archer franchise we know and love. The show is about a villian named Killface (show above) and his struggle to destroy the planet while dealing with limited finances, a troubled son, and an idiot hero, Awesome-X. Awesome-X aka Xander Crews is very Archer-ish, though not an exact copy, but his voice acting is top notch because it is none other than one of the showsâ creators, Adam Reed (Ray Gillette). Also our girl, Amber Nash, voice of Pam, plays Val, the kidnapped assistant to Killface.
The first season is ROUGH. The style is just starting out, the designs are a little too simple, the backgrounds are manipulated photographs of real places (which is cool, but not done great). But once you get to season 2, you really get that quick Archer pacing.Â
IMO, Archer has better pacing than any show I know, and there are some good shows out there. 2nd season Frisky Dingo has that lightning in a bottle and it always keeps you guessing. So if you are not doing anything else rn, why not see where it all started!
