A tiny and brightly-colored leafhopper that is splendida indeed! This individual was so small I almost missed it sitting on the surface of an alder leaf. With the naked eye, it appeared to be a solid light green color, but, under the macro lens, it shows colors that look like they're straight out of the tropics! I was struck by how similar the patterning is to a larger leafhopper here, Graphocephala versuta, though the overlap in coloration is almost certainly convergence as opposed to mimicry. These guys seem to be quite rare or often overlooked, so I probably won't get to see another for some time!
