st house: There’s something cheeky and compulsive about this individual and his/her selfhood. There are irrational annoyances that show up in the person's countenance and a faked innocence accompanied by arousal. This is a very potent placement for Lilith as the first house is “The House of Self”, the outwardly projected persona, the point of separation from the rest of life. The person is usually bewildered (or “acts” bewildered) by the pushback that is received, often in the form of accusations of being slippery, deceitful and shameless. Lilith as an archetype doesn’t care about morale – although she might act like she does. There’s something profoundly dishonest and bogus about the way this person shows up in the world. This is the type that does something completely out of line but gets away with it because there’s no guilt and no internal judgment of one’s own behavior. “I can’t help myself” is the statement, “you have to forgive me because I don’t know any better – and even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself”. The person with a 1st house Lilith has a certain charm that deceives… “I am not like this or like that” is the overt message but it’s done with a little devilish smile in the background, “of course I am like that, I don’t mean what I say, I don’t say what I mean, I am chaotic and slave to my compulsions but I wouldn’t have it any other way”. Other people sense that there’s no real integrity behind the person’s selfhood – it’s slippery and unreliable. The person is projecting an image of the self that can be very potent, but is innately duplicitous and deceptive.
nd house: The person’s obsession in acted out through the material realm. The nature of this obsession would be dictated by the sign placement of Lilith. For example, Lilith in Aries in the 2nd house would be mischievously preoccupied with being the best in this sphere, owning the pretties things, having the best body, having access to the best pleasure, being the “top dog” in the most basic sense of the physical components required. This is the person to get caught relentlessly shopping because of the compulsion to take initiative on the physical plane (Aries in the 2nd house). Lilith in Pisces on the other hand would simply let go and yearn for the most spiritual experience through the involvement in the material realm. It could express itself through obsessively giving too much of one’s value away “I’ll just have what you have”, “I go with what is the most self-martyring thing so I’ll give up my resources to no end”, just absorbing and remaining formless yet simultaneously being hurt and compulsively wallowing in the impermanence of physical life and lack of material possessions. Lilith in Libra would be keen to not disturb the balance and the ease of physical life, there’s no aggressive initiative to “have certain things” it’s more of a compulsive initiative to not stand out too much or cause any disruptions. “I don’t have things that uniquely stand out” is the statement to go with this placement, but I have the most refined and sophisticated, socially approved material situation.
rd house: This is the communication house and with Lilith here, there’s a propensity to blurt out inappropriate things – uncompromising pleasure seeking and sexual freedom lies at the core of the expression. I have Mars conjunct Lilith in the 3rd and I have let my tongue slip a few times… it’s very liberating but it’s also embarrassing. This placement usually points to someone who likes to play with labels and concepts of others and the self. Mental interaction is very stimulating and exciting – especially if it’s taboo and a bit intrusive. There can be a tendency to really bring out the most shocking and murky vocabulary and touch on topics that are sensitive but there’s always a deceptive innocence of pretense to cover it over. “I am not really this outrageous” but the fact of the matter is that the person is, there’s no doubt about it. It sneaks in through speech and writing every now and then. I’ve always read and written a lot and I somehow always found a way to incorporate something that was very weird and unnecessary because I got some kind of kick of taking my mind to certain places. It’s not conscious, it’s compulsive, which is probably why other people can be ok with it while recoiling slightly. Lilith is a demonic force and can’t be tamed. Lilith likes to tickle herself mentally with this placement. If she’s expressing through Leo she might like to be demonstrating her self-love and confidence through saying anything she wishes, if she’s placed in Virgo she might like to get into the nitty-gritty dirty details and specifics of a topic – honing in on the most taboo or outrageous.
th house: The second angular house is representing the emotional foundation, the emotional atmosphere, and the “fishbowl” of familial inheritance. This is a hidden house that the public has no access to, let alone the individual because it so much part of the emotional backbone that it can barely be identified. It is however felt deeply. This is truly a mystical house. It is easier illustrate this placement through sign placements examples. Lilith in Sagittarius in the 4th is the compulsive chase of spirit that stems from the native’s upbringing. There’s a propensity to live and relate in a way that is concerned with meaning and exploration of life through the intuition that is so ingrained that it’s the foundation that the individual lives from. There could be a family history of “taboos” that the person can’t help but be affected by– people travelled or studied or enjoyed themselves shamelessly without a sense of responsibility. Truth might’ve been pursued at any cost, not in a “pure” and “moral” way – but with primitive obsession. There could be a compulsive religious urge at the root of one’s emotional core. With Lilith in Capricorn in the 4th there might’ve been an atmosphere of judgment and authoritarian attitudes, of “one-upmanship” and rigid rules. The person stems from an emotional situation of masochism; it feels good to be punished and to punish oneself for not being disciplined enough or serious enough. It feels good to restrict and limit oneself. This could be the type that lives on breadcrumbs yet gets a thrill out of it.
th house: This is the house of self-expression. The activities that stem from personal interest fall under this house domain. It is also a house of love as it relates to acceptance and reveling in one’s own being. When Lilith is in this house the person meets her through leisure activities. There might be a tendency to compulsively pursue pleasurable pastimes, to the point of it seeming a bit inappropriate. This is the type to have a strong guilty pleasure, a tendency to make use of one’s free time in a way that is compulsive and lacking in integrity – but it feels too good to stop. Lilith in Gemini is this house might communicate and interact through the mental faculty in a way that is inappropriate and distasteful. Perhaps there’s a penchant for reading or writing about sexual topics, of dating and finding someone to shock or seduce through bringing up certain conversational topics. Lilith in Libra might strive for refinement and pleasantness – to the point of adapting to the general social consensus and going along with whatever keeps the peace as a way of spending one’s personal time. Other people will sense that the person has a suspect and sexual compulsion behind their hobbies and interests – usually it’s deemed impure and unattractive, but there’s also a certain charm to the dark feminine that can’t be denied. “I’m not sure what I’m going to do this weekend” might be the statement, yet there’s a little grin of pleasure coming from the subconscious. “I know I’m going to indulge in that bad thing I love doing”. "I know I shouldn't but I probably will".
th house: This is the practical house and the sphere of daily management of necessities. It is the house of employment and the carrying out of chores. When Lilith is here, the person has a compulsiveness to his or her way of handling life on a practical level. Some minor routine could be completely irrational “I don’t brush my teeth” or “I brush them vigorously” could be the case. This is a silly example, but the point is that Lilith will compulsively do things on a routine basis that is arousing because of a deep desire for freedom and crossing boundaries. “I haven’t combed my hair for days, I should probably do it” but the person might secretly like pushing the boundaries to see what will happen. Lilith in Taurus in this house might do things too slowly and be too much of a compulsive comfort-seeker as to sabotage potential employment. Or the person could get employed but would be a constant pain to the other coworkers for having an irrational stubbornness going for them. Potentially there could be a tendency to be overly concerned with money that is earned rather than aspiring toward something more elevated. This is the “look at what I do for a living” placement “and look how much money it gets me”. Lilith in Aries in this house points to a compulsive competitiveness in the sphere of daily routines and processes. “I can do this the fastest way”, it might not be the most constructive way, as in “I scrubbed the floor but scratched it beyond repair at the same time”. There’s a thrill in carrying out necessary chores in a particular way as it relates to the sign Lilith is in.
th house: This I the sphere of relationships and other people. It’s the domain of relativism and balancing opposites. It describes what energy we use to relate to another with. Lilith here can be quite difficult because relationships are so important. Yet, Lilith doesn’t care. There’s an obsession with what’s created through “marrying” the self and another. For example, Lilith in Scorpio in the 7th is a person that is prone to experience a kind of sexual stimulation in weighing one’s own personality against another’s – there’s a need to be in control and be in charge of both being loving and cruel and still have the other person tied to the self. Unconditional commitment to the point of destruction could be the guilty pleasure of a Scorpio Lilith. There’s can be a compulsive nature to the relationships the person establishes that isn’t very healthy. It’s not consciously willed but rather subconsciously compelled which is why it’s so difficult to do anything about. There can be an allure to Lilith that attracts others, but people will find it hard to deal with the dark urge that lies at the core of the need to be together. The person with this placement could be entering into partnership deals with an uncompromising attitude. Personal relationships are the “feeding ground” for the particular compulsion that Lilith has depending on the sign placement. Lilith in Virgo would fulfill the sexual urge in relationships through trying to improve things and be of service to the other, perhaps to the point of becoming too obsessed with perfecting the union.
th house: Planets and points in the 8th house are components of the psyche that the individual keeps hidden and tucked away – sometimes to the point of being completely unaware of these parts of themselves. This is scary and disturbing, because the person senses that there’s something in the basement – the question is what. People generally assume that it’s something scary/taboo, why else would it be hidden? With Lilith here, the person has to go deep to find the gift (or curse?) of uncompromising sexual satisfaction. It probably bursts out from time to time and is a very vulnerable experience for the person. Say that Lilith is in Cancer in the 8th – this would imply that there’s a compulsion to be cared for or to take care of others that is unleashed occasionally and that tends to scare and shock the individual. “I didn’t know what that came from” is the common statement of people with 8th house placements, and with Lilith it is an obsessive urge to experience some kind of impure high. It could be that the person flirts with death with this placement. It feels so good to play in the arena of deep intimacy, to be snatched, taken, overcome by obsessive uncompromising feelings that one didn’t know were there. There’s also a fear of people finding out about one’s twisted nature so one might only let it out in very intimate and binding situations where control and power is impossible to wield, when it doesn’t belong to one person or another. Being at the grip of fate in one’s obsessiveness is the overall feeling.
th house: This is the house of God (or whatever term you like to use), as in “The Holy Spirit” – it’s the house of belief, faith, meaning, purpose and expansion. The spirit is usually pursued through religion, traveling, studying, philosophy or simply life experience put in perspective. Lilith in this house could lend itself to a certain compulsion to pursue something of spiritual value. For example, Lilith in Leo in the 9th might find that the religious/spiritual pursuits are designed to self-enhance – this could be the visionary that is compulsively full of him/herself and likes to preach and read and expect everyone to bow to the vast knowledge one has. Or it could take the expression of the person living and breathing a certain thought system because it feels so good to stimulate the destructive need for self-importance. Lilith in Aquarius in the 9th would be more of the compulsive truth sharer – “everyone should have access to this expansion and sense of meaning that I have”. It’s the itch of wanting to awaken and liberate the collective that drives the pursuit of spirit. “I must share this belief-system because it will change the world” might be the sentiment - it’s fueled by a sexual compulsion. The 9th house Lilith is likely expressed as an obsession with finding meaning and discovering the truth. This could take the person very far in the quest for enlightenment – through setting out to gather and soak up everything that could add to the overall purpose of life. However, it might be taken too far.
th house: The person with Lilith in this house will have a public image that is tied up with this archetype. As the 10th is the house of career and vocation, it is worth mentioning a couple of celebrities with this placement. Julia Roberts is a very good example of a 10th house Lilith in Taurus. Her character in the movie Pretty Woman is a prostitute who gets a hold of a rich man (Lilith in Taurus is always on the lookout for physical comfort and pleasure in form of material resources) with her innocent sexual charm. She’s empowering herself through not caring and simply enjoying the material benefits of being with this man. She does fall in love, and she seduces him as well - Lilith loves love - the tease of it at least. Lilith has a certain confidence, which is derived from being stimulated by the taboo under the guise of childlike naïveté. In essence, Lilith is the Lolita figure, the young girl who is much too young to know what she knows and crave what she craves. Another example is Amy Winehouse with Lilith in Aquarius in the 10th. She is publicly known for singing sad and mature love songs with a certain childlike flirtatiousness. On a public level she portrayed a Lolita figure, independent but at the mercy of men all the same; young, innocent (yet not so innocent) – she certainly had the public image of the misunderstood girl-child with a whole lot of lust. She probably couldn’t help but to go against her own better judgment. In any case she certainly delivered the brilliance and uniqueness that is typical of Aquarius.
th house: This is the house of group consciousness and Lilith placed here will give the individual a propensity to live out a certain complex from a sexual root in the sphere of collective issues. There’s a need to be involved and overseeing collective movement and change – to ride with it, to stimulate independence and to let the subconscious override conscious control. Lilith in Libra in this house might have a compulsion to fit the group’s definition of beauty and grace and be ahead of the crowd in one’s taste and assessment of what is socially appropriate. Kim Kardashian has this placement – it is conjunct her Sun in the 10th house. She seems to always have been obsessed with appearances and being on top of the social game. It certainly feels a bit compulsive and murky, but she doesn’t care – she has to live the way she does. She’s also a very hard worker – compulsive worker some would say – but it is all terribly superficial and she can’t get enough of it. A person with Lilith in Leo in the 11th would probably like to play a special role for the collective as a leader or hero to look up to – someone who is important and can be a source of light and love. Someone with Lilith in Sagittarius in this sphere might need to present as a visionary and a bringer of truth, meaning and perspective because of a compulsive need to contribute to the freedom of humanity. Carl Jung had Lilith in Sagittarius in this house and he certainly had an obsession with sharing knowledge and bring a new dimension of thinking to the collective.
th house: The last house, the end and the beginning, the place where reality and illusion merge. The person with a 12th house Lilith probably has an obsessive nature that permeates all of life. There’s something undifferentiated about the compulsive nature as if it doesn’t belong to the person entirely – it is easy for this person to be influenced by sexual undercurrents that stimulate behavior but it can be difficult to identify with it, to experience Lilith as a part of one’s character rather than as an elusive component of the psyche that is neither real nor unreal. It’s perhaps only when the threshold of consciousness is lowered through drug use or relaxation that Lilith can take the front stage with this placement. Someone with Lilith in Gemini in the 12th might find the there’s an indescribable urge to communicate, think and interact stuff that belongs to collective experience. This might be the person that feels like there’s a little seductress-saboteur that seeps through the boundaries of the ego, saying things one shouldn’t and being obnoxiously persistent in making inappropriate comments and remarks as it makes the person feel part of something common and elevated. This is the person that is “The Lilith” through not being her, rather; it’s a process of letting her take over completely and let go of everything that stands in her way. John Lennon had Lilith in Pisces in this house. His “Peace and Love” obsession lives in the collective unconscious.
